Wayne Rooney shows off his slimmed-down physique as he climbs Mount Snowdon on a 'rare free weekend' with wife Coleen - after success of £10M docuseries

Wayne Rooney showed off his slimmed-down physique in black gym gear as he climbed Mount Snowdon with wife Coleen on Saturday. 

The Manchester United star has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent months, including a nose job, a slimmed-down physique and Invisalign to transform his smile. 

The fitness fanatic couple, both 40, enjoyed a 'rare free weekend together' as they spent the weekend getting in their steps.

Coleen looked radiant and glowing as she posed for a makeup-free selfie when they reached the summit. 

She captioned her post: 'After a busy week …. What do we decide to do with our very rare free weekend…. Climb Snowdon'

Speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of the premiere of their new Disney+ series, Wayne shared that he 'worked really hard' to lose weight in the gym, and laughed off the idea he'd used jabs. 

The couple have given fans an intimate look inside their family life with sons Kai, 16, Klay, 13, Kit, ten, and Cass, eight, in their new £10million fly-on-the-wall show, The Real Rooneys, which was filmed last year.

Asked to share the secret to his weight loss, Wayne said: 'Apparently I've seen recently I've been taking this pen thing about me.

'It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight. Apparently I've been on the pen.'

The couple then discussed Wayne's recent nose job, with Coleen adding: 'I thought you were gonna say then, my nose wasn't a cosmetic job, it was a medical job!'

Wayne clarified that his wife was the one who encouraged him to go under the knife, after he broke his nose while playing for DC United.

Coleen added: 'I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring,' while her husband clarified: 'I couldn't blow one side out of my nose and so I had it fixed.'

Coleen herself is no stranger to the gym, having regularly been spotted heading home from her daily workouts, and the mother-of-four said her exercise routine helps keep her sane during her busy schedule.

She said: 'It's one of those things, I have to go to the gym to maintain because I'm only short, I want to enjoy my food.

'If I don't work at it I will put weight on and so that's something I have to do for myself, and to feel good, so I do go to Pilates.

'I enjoy it and for now for me to just focus on something else, that's always been part of my routine.' 

Pictures of Wayne taken three years ago show how much he has changed, with the Manchester United star showcasing his glow-up at the premiere of his docuseries on Tuesday night.

The ten-episode documentary covers a pivotal year in the Rooney household, after Wayne was sacked as football manager for Plymouth Argyle, swapping the touchline for school runs.   

Wayne first shared the results of his nose job back in August after revealing he’d had an operation to fix it after breaking it twice during his football career.

The ex-England captain first revealed he'd had the operation on his new podcast Stick to United, which he presents with football influencer Mark Goldbridge, a week after having surgery.

He revealed that he was feeling 'a little bit uncomfortable' following the surgery.

He said: 'It's actually really lucky I've got no black eyes, but I've still got two plastic tubes up my nose, which are coming out very soon. I can't wait for them to come out.

'So, they've cut here [under my nostrils]... So, that's all stitched – a little bit uncomfortable.'
