The social media move marked a rare one for Mendes. Not only because he tries to stay off the apps, but also because he prefers to keep his love life more private these days.

"If I’m being completely honest, I don’t really go on social media anymore,” the 27-year-old shared on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast in 2024. "So, I don’t really see or care what people say about my love life or my relationships because it’s honestly too detrimental to the actual relationship itself that I’ve become pretty strict on that part of it."

Who Is Bruna Marquezine?

Born in 1995, Marquezine started acting at an early age, including in commercials and on TV Globo's children’s program Gente Inocente.

"I know it’s kind of weird to think that a 5-year-old would know that she wanted to act. But that’s how I felt at the time,” she recalled to ELLE in 2023. "I loved that I had responsibilities and would often be treated as a professional, as an adult."

Marquezine went on to star in several telenovelas on the Brazilian network, including Mulheres Apaixonadas, América, Cobras & Lagartos, Desejo Proibido, Em Família, I Love Paraisópolis and Deus Salve o Rei. But after nearly two decades with TV Globo, she and the media company parted ways.

“Of course, I didn’t want to hurt my relationship with Globo either,” Marquezine noted in her 2023 interview with Flaunt. “They’re family, but I needed to grow. I needed to be in charge and do more for myself, like being able to study or to go on vacation.”

As she recalled to the outlet, she then auditioned for the 2023 movie The Flash. While the part ultimately went to Sasha Calle, Marquezine still caught the attention of DC filmmakers and ended up landing the role of Jenny Kord in Blue Beetle that was released later that year.

In addition to acting—with other credits including Ophelia’s Death, Velhos Bandidos and Maldivas—Marquezine is a model. And while she often appears in front of the camera, she’s worked behind too—pulling triple duty as a co-producer, co-director and star of Amor da Minha Vida.

How Long Have Bruna Marquezine and Shawn Mendes Been Dating?

Marquezine and Mendes first sparked romance rumors in late 2025 after they were spotted together in Brazil. Although, a quick scroll through her Instagram shows he’d already been liking her posts for months. 

As time went on, fans began to stitch together Mendes and Marquezine’s multiple sightings—including them reading, dining out, going on walks and packing on the PDA during their grocery run. Still, the pair stayed tight-lipped on where they stood.
