Why Rosie O'Donnell Decided to Share Her Facelift With the World
Rosie O’Donnell Unveils Facelift Results in Unfiltered Before-and-After Photos
Rosie O'Donnell will never shy away from pulling back the curtain on her inner world.
After the 64-year-old recently shared she underwent a face lift in January, O'Donnell revealed why she decided to share the news—including the before and after images—publicly.
"Authenticity is the goal in these days and times," she told E! News at the 2026 Tony Awards. "And I think all that matters is truth and love, and so I wanted to be truthful and say all the complicated emotions I had about it."
In fact, the actress—who wore a black, gold and grey, geometrically-patterned suit to the annual award show—shared that her youngest child, Clay, wasn't the biggest fan of the idea of the procedure in the first place.
"My little autistic 13-year-old said to me, 'If you do it, I would not be able to respect you ever again,'" O'Donnell said. "And that put me off it for a few months, but then when I went and did it in January, I came home 10 days later, and they never noticed."
But for the Rosie O'Donnell alum, she felt it was better to be truthful than wait for "some tabloid to go, 'Gotcha!'"
Which is why she shared all the details about the work she got done.

"I just wanted to say, 'This is what I did, and here's the doctor, and if you want to,'" she explained, though she cautioned, "but it's very expensive—it's more expensive than any car I ever bought, but I can't drive around in my face."
But while O'Donnell is pleased with the results of her face lift, she's closing the book on future work. After all, the procedure took care of the only areas she wasn't thrilled with.
"I'm on Mounjaro over the last three years, I have diabetes too, and I lost over 50 pounds, and that was responsible for a lot of the extra skin that I had around my face," she explained. "And there were two lines that made me look sad."
In fact, it was those two lines that became a topic of conversation in O'Donnell's new hometown of Howth, Ireland, where she relocated in 2025.
"In Ireland, people would say, 'Are you upset, darling? What's the matter love?'" she joked. "And I'm like, 'That's just my face. I am not upset, it's just how I look.'"
