Discovery Family’s My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic became a cultural phenomenon during its nine-season run from 2010 to 2019, as the show unexpectedly captured the hearts of fans far beyond its target audience. The internet helped supercharge the fandom, which to this day maintains a loyal fan base, despite it being nearly seven years since the show’s finale. Now, My Little Pony fans have something to celebrate, as fan favorites like Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, and more return for the next era of Friendship Is Magic.
The final episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic premiered on October 12, 2019, marking the end of one of the greatest My Little Pony installments to date. The series stood out for several reasons, including becoming one of the defining fandoms of the early 2010s after unexpectedly attracting a large adult audience, particularly among men who became known as “Bronies.”
It's rare for a franchise to be as beloved by both children and adults as My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic became. Hence, the kids who grew up watching MLP: FiM and the long-time adult fans can both rejoice at the news that the series is returning, bringing back fan-favorite characters including Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack. However, this return comes with a twist.
