Action star Alan Ritchson's latest thriller movie is finally heading home.
Alan Ritchson has enjoyed a packed 2026 release slate, having already appeared in a few new theatrically-released action movies this year, while on the TV front he just marked the endings of Reacher season 4 and Neagley season 1 on Prime Video in September. In addition to preparing for another yet-to-be-released action vehicle arriving later this year, Ritchson is now seeing his most recent thriller movie embark on a wider release as it lands on digital platforms.
As confirmed on the Prime Video Store, Angel Studios' Runner is set to release on digital platforms at 12 a.m. ET on Tuesday, October 13. The new action-comedy thriller is currently available for pre-order, set at the standard SD, HD, and UHD new release purchase price of $24.99. In addition to Amazon's Prime Video Store, Runner will be available to purchase from other PVOD digital retailers such as the Apple TV Store, Fandango at Home, and YouTube.
The Alan Ritchson-starring movie's digital release comes just a month after its September 11 theatrical premiere in the United States, at which time it opened alongside Warner Bros.' supernatural Practical Magic 2, Andrew Garfield's gritty The Uprising, and Liam Neeson's CIA thriller The Fix. Distributed by Angel Studios in the United States, Runner has earned nearly $18 million at the worldwide box office against a reported $35 million budget.
The film is led by Alan Ritchson as former military operative Hank Malone, who works as a "runner" tasked with transporting illegal and legal objects for his clients. As the cartel pursues him, Hank is tasked with transporting a rare organ for a terminally ill child alongside Owen Wilson's Ben Bishop. Also produced by Ritchson, Runner is directed by Expend4bles' Scott Waugh and written by duo Miles Hubley and Tommy White.
Ahead of its digital debut, Runner has enjoyed widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. Currently, Runner's Rotten Tomatoes critics score stands at 77% based on 62 reviews. Meanwhile, the action thriller holds a "Verified Hot" 89% audience score based on over 500 verified ratings. As more viewers are finally introduced to Runner through its PVOD release, however, these scores may fluctuate in coming weeks.

As Alan Ritchson closes out a busy year, the actor still has some exciting new projects on the horizon. Ritchson's next role will be in Prime Video's The Man with the Bag, a Christmas action-comedy movie releasing this December, in which he stars as a petty thief opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger's Santa Claus. In addition to currently filming Reacher season 5, Alan Ritchson's upcoming slate includes roles in Sony's live-action Helldivers movie, Netflix's War Machine sequel, and a Mike Thornton biopic.
So far, Runner has yet to set an official release date for subscription streaming.
