Assassin's Creed Black Flag Official Sequel Is "Peak", Gamers Agree

Despite being one of Ubisoft's worst-kept secrets in recent years, the remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag finally received official confirmation during a blog post a few weeks back, revitalizing interest in one of the series' most popular settings. While there's plenty of reason to be excited over the Black Flag Resynced remake that's on the horizon, others are still wishing we had an official sequel to look forward to instead.

While players have been asking for a direct sequel to Black Flag for years at this point, many fans still don't seem to know that it already had one in the form of an official Webtoon titled Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple. With over 100 chapters of content, the comic-based project has earned some fan acclaim, and Reddit commenter PapaSmurph0517 calls it "absolute peak content and easily the best thing AC has made in over a decade."

While other fans argue that Assassin's Creed 3 or Assassin's Creed Rogue are technically sequels to the story of Black Flag, the official Assassin's Creed comic on Webtoon is much closer to the direct continuation that one of Assassin's Creed's most beloved protagonists deserves.

Initially released in April 2023 and receiving continuous updates all the way up until March 16 with the series finale, it feels practically made to prepare fans for the upcoming remake. Although some fans reacted by saying that they'd much prefer a new video game than a comic continuation of the story, PapaSmurph0517 notes that the Forgotten Temple webtoon is still "100% canon" to the story of the series.

While not nearly as popular as some other media in the franchise, that hasn't stopped fans like AssassinBoi394 from going on to describe Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple as being "amazing and very true to AC lore," with plenty to offer for fans of the series through Edward's adventures to find an ancient vault filled with long-lost treasure.

Although Forgotten Temple still has a few complaints, with the modern-day segments being a little convoluted or not as exciting as the historical narrative, if anything, that only makes it more accurate as a true representation of the source material itself.

Given that there's no confirmed release date yet for the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake, the Webtoon sequel seems like the perfect way to pass the time while you wait, while getting in just the right pirate-themed mood.
