Assassin's Creed Odyssey still has a positive legacy, but after the massive success of Assassin's Creed Resynced, fans are wondering what's next for the series. Are we getting the long-rumored Assassin's Creed Hexe anytime soon? What will become of the franchise, which has had its ups and downs since the beginning? Or will we get any more remakes?

Time will tell, but for now, fans are focused on yet another remake, and one of the most beloved in the series at that. Thanks to a recent tease on X from the official Assassin's Creed account, fans are pretty excited, but many of them are split or skeptical.

Image of Assassin's Creed Odyssey protagonists Alexios and Kassandra stood back to back against a marble background.

Just this week, Ubisoft loosed a tweet into the world with the following tease: "Ancient Greece awaits, misthios. Time to begin an Odyssey (again)." Some fans are taking this as a tease for a re-release, while others think it's just marketing to tie into the release of Christopher Nolan's epic The Odyssey, in theaters this week.

So far, fans are excitedly hoping a remake or a remaster is in the cards: "Odyssey was so badass! Kassandra reminded me so much of Xena and with the mythical creatures of Medusa, Minotaur, that made the game so much more worth it!"

Fans also have wishlist items ready if that remake does surface: "Please fix the parkour system of that game. Add an innovative approach to the parkour that is adaptive to the environment of that game, and it will not be like any other AC game parkour if you do that. Add elements of AC unity in there and keep the parkour slow like real-world."

Others would like to see modern enhancements at the very least: "I’m replaying rn and I will say the loading times are abysmal so I wish that could be patched somehow, but I don’t think it’s possible unless a PS5 version comes out. I don’t think it needs to be a graphical upgrade with what I’m seeing."

However, not everyone is on board with the remake, or the fact that it is even plausible at this stage. One X user writes: "Why are the replies talking about an Odyssey Remake? Graphics have barely progressed since that game came out, let alone game mechanics. Aren't there like 5 AC games that benefit from a remake more than this or am I tripping?"

Others are concerned about remakes in general, and if they'll live up to the originals: "My main concern with a remake of AC1 is can modern Ubisoft handle it? Like AC1 didn’t have any cutscenes of the traditional sort, the low/high profile system has been gone from the franchise for a long time and modern day too. Those things are all ESSENTIAL for AC1 so can they?"

For many hardcore fans, the original entries of each game, even the first Assassin's Creed, still hold up. While Black Flag did benefit from a remake, it's debatable just how effective others might be.
