First released back in 2017 as the tenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed Origins came as a pleasant surprise. With the Ubisoft franchise being met with some mixed reviews during this time, the entry that took us to Ancient Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra and shone a light on the origins of the Assassin's Brotherhood, was met with positive reviews, with praise for its performances, writing, atmosphere, and gameplay.
Telling the story of Bayek of Siwa, Assassin's Creed Origins sees him and his wife Aya seek revenge for the death of their son. As such, they go on to found the Assassin's Brotherhood, and ultimately begin the war with the Templars that would continue throughout history. Not only that, but thanks to the launch of two equally successful DLC: The Hidden Ones and The Curse of the Pharaohs, Assassin's Creed Origins is remembered fondly, and Bayek of Siwa maintains his popularity as one of the series' best protagonists to this day.
That is why it is exciting to announce that Bayek, alongside his fellow protagonists, will be returning this October with the launch of Assassin's Creed® Animus - The Board Game by Mantic Games.
Beginning its life as a Kickstarter campaign and achieving an impressive £274,425 in pledges, this TTRPG experience will see 1-4 players come together to take on the role of some of Assassin's Creed's most iconic protagonists, explore the past, strike down targets, and race to make their mark on history.
With 10 eras to explore, with each boasting replayability, Assassin's Creed® Animus - The Board Game is a must-have for any fan of the Ubisoft franchise, especially as the Initiate Pledge which comes in at a respectable £65, features six playable eras:
- Assassin's Creed 1 (Altair), 2 (Ezio) & Assassin's Creed 3 (Connor)
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Eivor – Male & Female)
- Assassin's Creed Black Flag (Edward)
- Assassin's Creed Shadows (Naoe)
However, if you want to splash the cash a bit more and purchase the Early Bird Master Assassin Pledge, you will gain access to up to 10 playable eras, with these including:
- Assassin's Creed 1 (Altair), 2 (Ezio) & 3 (Connor)
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Eivor – Male & Female)
- Assassin's Creed Black Flag (Edward)
- Assassin's Creed Shadows (Naoe)
- Assassin’s Creed Unity (Arno)
- Assassin’s Creed Origins (Bayek)
- Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (Jacob)
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (Kassandra)
As you can see, it is this bundle that will see you able to take on the role of Bayek of Siwa throughout his journey across Ancient Egypt, and with stunning miniatures launching alongside, it is an excellent way to keep the franchise alive.
In a game of adventure and rivalry, Assassin's Creed® Animus - The Board Game players can enter the memories of some of their favorite assassins, each with their own unique abilities and goals. You will choose your character based on their era, skills, equipment, and playstyle, and spend actions to move across the board, investigate special locations, and seek out enemies. Not only that, but with special cards revealing new opportunities for players, such as targets, challenges, and special events, this truly is the ultimate Assassin's Creed TTRPG experience, and it begins shipping out to pledgers this October.
