Astrologer Aliza Kelly Reveals How Venus Retrograde Affects Your Sign

Astrologer Aliza Kelly Reveals Her 2026 Predictions for Each Zodiac Sign

Just in time for spooky season, astrologer Aliza Kelly has something truly frightening to share: While Mercury retrograde gets all the hype, it's not the only planetary motion that has the ability to screw things up.

Three or four times a year, Mercury's backwards motion "manifests in really obvious (and incredibly annoying), everyday ways: Missed texts, delayed flights, computer glitches, weird miscommunications," the AstroloTea with Aliza Kelly podcaster noted to E! News.

But taking place just once in a year-and-a-half stretch, "Venus retrograde is different," she continued. "Venus is associated with love, beauty, and values, so when Venus goes retrograde, we start reconsidering what—and who—we actually prioritize."

Here's the part that's scarier than any ghost story. "Venus can absolutely be a period of breakups and makeups, along with exes rising from the grave (right in time for spooky season)," Kelly acknowledged. However, "it goes much deeper than romance: During Venus retrograde, you might reconsider your personal style, change how you spend money, return to an abandoned creative project or realize something you desperately wanted simply doesn’t appeal to you anymore."

So, yes, prepare for some ch-ch-ch-ch-changes as Venus moves backwards from Scorpio into Libra starting Oct. 3.

And while those two signs (along with Venus-ruled Taurus and Libra's direct opposite sign Aries) will be most affected, everyone should turn and face the strange.

"Your tastes may change dramatically over these 40 days and 40 nights," The Consellation Club founder detailed, which is why she would avoid "making extremely expensive purchases, radically changing your appearance or undergoing elective aesthetic procedures that you can easily postpone. You may feel very differently about what you want once Venus is direct."

But if you, like Taylor Swift, are on the hunt for the love of your life, "it can be an amazing time to experiment—especially to date someone outside your usual 'type,'" shared Kelly, who actually met her now-husband during a Venus retrograde. "This is an excellent time to move towards your curiosities, so give yourself permission to surprise yourself."

For some clues as to how time may change you, she'd suggest tracing time back to October and November 2018.

"This Venus Retrograde is a direct recall to what was happening at that time," explained Kelly, who will embark on her own journey Oct. 6 with the start of her Haunted Tea Party: Spooky Season Astrology Tour in Chicago, "so whatever themes, dynamics, joys or disappointments were front-and-center then are likely resurfacing now."

But, eventually, what should emerge is a whole new you.

"The spirit of Venus retrograde is about metamorphosis, so don't be afraid to embrace your own evolution," stressed Kelly. "Values that once felt incredibly important may suddenly lose their magnetism, while other things you previously overlooked become tremendously significant."

And while she notes "you won't have all the answers immediately," she's here to help light the way forward. Here's what the expert says is written in the stars.

Aries

Steady yourself, Rams, because "relationships are getting real," astrologer Aliza Kelly told E! News. "Venus retrograde begins by digging into intimacy, trust, and vulnerability before moving into your partnership zone. You may realize that a relationship needs new rules—or that the way you’ve historically approached commitment no longer works for you."

As such, she recommends Aries consider one "big question: 'What does true reciprocity look like?'"

Taurus

There's reason for this spring sign to feel a bit bullish. "Venus is your ruling planet, Taurus, so this retrograde is personal," Kelly explained of the weeks-long stretch that kicks off Oct. 3. "Relationships take center stage first, bringing partners, exes, contracts and unresolved interpersonal dynamics into focus."

And once you've wrestled with such matters of the heart, she added, "Venus asks you to reconsider your habits and routines, including whether your everyday life actually supports the relationships and pleasures you value most."

Gemini

For the twin sign, this retrograde brings a two-part narrative. "Venus retrograde begins by disrupting your routines, work habits, and wellness rituals, asking you to notice where life has become overly mechanical," explained Kelly, noting Geminis are likely to alter their relationship with pleasure.

In the second half of the 40-day period, she adds, "Venus backs into the part of your chart associated with romance, creativity, and fun. Okay, Gemini! Go off! Something you used to love may come racing back into your life—we love to see it."

Cancer

Time for the crabs to dig a bit deeper. "Prepare for some archaeology!" advised Kelly. "Old crushes, creative passions and desires will resurface as Venus moves backward through your romance zone, but eventually the story becomes more complex."

That's because when Venus returns to Libra Oct. 25, "home, family and your emotional foundations are front-and-center," she detailed. "You're redefining what—and who—actually makes you feel at home, and it's going to be different than you anticipated."

Leo

Something that you left behind is about to claw its way back, Leos. With your private world "undergoing a renovation," said Kelly, "Venus retrograde begins with a reconciliation of old emotional patterns, so something from your past—whether it's a family dynamic or an inherited belief system—needs your attention."

Then, it's time for others to hear you roar. "Conversations become extremely important, as you find yourself becoming increasingly social," added Kelly. "Don't be afraid to say 'yes' to a few more things; huge opportunities may be embedded in the most ordinary happy hours."

Virgo

Normally scrupulous Virgos should watch their words and their wallet, Kelly warned. "Venus retrograde begins in the part of your chart associated with communication, so old conversations may suddenly reappear for a second (or third) time," she noted. "There's more to be said!"

As Venus hits Libra in the later days of October, "money and self-worth become the bigger story," added Kelly. "What are you spending your resources on—and does it reflect what you genuinely value? This needs to be seriously reconsidered, Virgo!"

Libra

Time for Libras to nail their practiced balancing act. "This is a major personal reset," Kelly explained. "Venus is your ruling planet, and this retrograde will eventually moves directly into your sign, putting identity, relationships, and self-worth under review."

But before that can happen, she continued, "you're reconsidering your worth on a both an exisitential and practical level. Have you been advocating for yourself? Standing up for what you deserve? Being treated—and compensated—in a way that feels not only appropriate, but also inspiring? By the end of this cycle, you may have a very different definition of what makes something—including yourself—valuable."

Scorpio

FYI, Scorps, "You're at the center of this one," stressed Kelly. "Venus stations retrograde in your sign, launching a profound reassessment of your identity, relationships, desires and appearance."

Then, "when Venus moves backward into Libra," added Kelly, "the transformation becomes much more spiritual. You may need solitude to process an ending, forgive your past or finally release a relationship or version of yourself that has been haunting you. Don't worry, Scorpio, you're great at these types of deep dives!"

Sagittarius

Kelly's message to Sag signs: "Your subconscious is yapping!" With the retrograde beginning in "the most emotional area of your chart," she said, expect "old feelings, dreams and even some psychic downloads" to resurface.

"But, naturally, this isn't just going on in the background—you're feeling the implications ooze into every aspect of your life," she added. "Later, Venus moves into your friendship and community zone, inspiring you to really tap into your audience. This is an excellent time to translate the channeled messages you've been receiving: Can you turn them into art? Poetry? Excellent content? You're the alchemist now, Sagittarius!"

Capricorn

This season may be a challenge for pragmatic goats. "Don't freak out, but your definition of success is changing," warned Kelly. "Venus retrograde begins by reshuffling friendships, communities and long-term dreams, potentially reconnecting you with people or ambitions from your past."

And when Venus backs into your career zone, "a former professional opportunity could resurface," said Kelly, "but the bigger question is whether the future you're building still represents the person you've become? Are you still motivated by the same measures of success? No, Capricorn, because you've changed. Allow yourself to explore what's actually driving you forward today."

Aquarius

It's the age of Aquarius figuring their stuff out. As Kelly put it, "You're reconsidering where you're going—and why. Venus retrograde begins at the top of your chart, bringing career, reputation, visibility and ambition under review."

Once Venus moves backward toward the areas associated with travel, education and perspective," she added, "You may discover that changing your direction requires changing your outlook—which isn't always easy for a fixed sign like you. But when in doubt, try looking at an old situation from a new angle: Venus is shifting her vantage, so you can too!"

Pisces

Time for those fish to really dive in. "Your world is getting bigger—but first, you gotta go deep," said Kelly. "Like, really deep."

The 40-day journey "begins by helping you reconsider your beliefs systems, before cascading into the part of your chart associated with intimacy, vulnerability, power dynamics and trust," she explained. "This is an opportunity to redefine what it actually means to build a life with someone without losing yourself in the process. Don't forget, Pisces: Boundaries will always be your best friend."
