Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.
Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.
Airing from 2005 to 2008 and being the animated television show that many of us grew up with thanks to Nickelodeon, Avatar: The Last Airbender still boasts a dedicated fanbase to this day, and despite one live-action movie that we do not talk about, all of its spin-offs have done nothing to dampen its popularity.
Despite coming to an end in the early 2000s, Avatar: The Last Airbender has since welcomed hit spin-off show, The Legend of Korra, as well as multiple comic books, novels, video games, and live-action adaptations inspired by the story created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
Now, with fans waiting for the third and final season of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation, there is something else to look forward to in the meantime.
Whilst Nintendo Switch users can now play Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, its developers have shared an update surrounding its launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite launching back in July 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, it was delayed for both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. Whilst Gameplay Group International has confirmed that the Avatar-inspired fighting game will arrive on Xbox on 3 September, we will have to wait until 23 October to finally get our hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
Inspired by the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series and featuring some of our favorite characters, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is exactly what it says on the tin and allows one-on-one fights spread out across a 27-chapter Story Mode.
The story follows Aang, Korra, and Kyoshi who must navigate a world that has been drastically altered by a rift during the Harmonic Convergence. As such, people from different eras have arrived with altered memories and the gang must get to the bottom of the phenomenon.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fast-paced 1v1 fighter where you battle as your favorite characters from the Avatar franchise. Featuring hand-drawn 2D animation true to the series’ roots, proprietary rollback netcode, and full cross-play for smooth, competitive gameplay.
With fights consisting of bending the elements and mastering hand-to-hand combat, you will need to overwhelm opponents with pressure or out-maneuver them with speed and precision. Whatever you do, you must learn each character's distinct abilities and strength in order to come out on top.
At the time of writing, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game sits at a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam, so when it comes to the multiple fighting games inspired by some of our favorite anime, it seems as though this brand-new release is definitely one of the best. However, if you want to play it on the Nintendo Switch 2, you will have to wait just a little bit longer.
