Chris Hemsworth's Extraction has been successful.
2026 is a big year for the actor. Hemsworth will return as Thor in December's Avengers: Doomsday, a major multiverse event like no other. Before that, the MCU star was already enjoying success with his action thriller Crime 101. While the film bombed in theaters, it is currently Prime Video's most-watched. Now, that streaming hit status is shared by another of Hemsworth's action thrillers.
According to FlixPatrol, Extraction is currently the 10th most-watched movie on Netflix worldwide. The R-rated action thriller was released on the streaming service back on April 24, 2020. The film joins a list that features movies like Anaconda, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson, and more on Netflix's global chart. That list is led by Bruce Willis' Striking Distance.
Image via NetflixAt the time of writing, Extraction is trending in 37 countries. It is currently the most-watched movie on Netflix in just one of them: Lebanon. Other nations where the R-rated action thriller has resurged on Netflix include Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, and more. While the Chris Hemsworth movie is finding new life on streaming abroad, the same is not happening nationwide.
Extraction has yet to make its way back onto Netflix's 10 Most-Watched Movies chart in the United States. Instead, Netflix's top films in the US include quite a few animated releases, such as Minions: The Rise of Gru, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and Madagascar. Currently, Beast, a thriller starring Idris Elba, stands as the most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States.
Extraction's streaming resurgence comes at an interesting time. Netflix has just confirmed that Extraction 3 is moving forward, with Chris Hemsworth returning as the action hero Tyler Rake. Elba, who leads the streamer's current biggest movie nationwide, is set to appear in the action franchise's threequel. The actor played Alcott in Extraction 2. Golshifteh Farahani also returns as Nik Khan.
Extraction 3, once again directed by Sam Hargrave, will start filming in the summer, according to a Deadline report. Additionally, it is said that David Weil (Citadel) will write the third movie instead of Joe Russo, who penned the first two and is likely too busy with Marvel's upcoming Avengers movies. Extraction's new life on Netflix's charts comes at the perfect time.
