Cyberpunk 2077 Final Official Update Unites Gamers Ahead Of Edgerunners 2

This week has seen Cyberpunk: Edgerunners fans treated to their first look at the highly anticipated second season, and it seems as though we are in for a treat once more. Animated by Studio Trigger in collaboration with CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners burst onto Netflix back in 2022, and whilst being set in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2077, it followed a new bunch of characters who were all trying to survive in a world obsessed with cyberware and violence.

Since then, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has become as popular as its Cyberpunk 2077 counterpart, with the latter welcoming updates that tie the two stories together. Not only that, but Edgerunners recently saw itself become part of a gacha game universe, giving fans a chance to see the finale they had always dreamed of.

Now, as mentioned, we finally have our first look at our brand-new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners cast ahead of its Fall 2026 launch date. Promising to offer fans more violence, action, and heartbreak, the second season acts as a complete standalone story, meaning that you need prior knowledge of either Cyberpunk 2077 or the first season of the animated show. However, as a hardcore fan, I would fully recommend both.

However, with the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners just around the corner, Cyberpunk 2077 fans are wondering if this will also spell good news for the CD Projekt RED RPG.

That is because, following the launch of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners back in 2022, CDPR also released an update for Cyberpunk 2077 in an attempt to tie the two universes together. This came alongside minor nods to our favorite Edgerunners, as well as giving us even more heartbreak than we already had.

As such, one fan recently took to r/cyberpunkgame to ask, "How likely is it that we are getting a new Cyberpunk 2077 update due to Edgerunners season 2?"

With over 40 comments racked up already, it is safe to say that fellow fans have their thoughts about the possibility and took to the thread to share their hopes.

"CDPR said they were done with game content as they've moved on to Project Orion," the top comment reads, referring to the current development on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. "However, I wouldn't put it past them to have some iconic weapons or something show up."

Another said, "Probably something on the level of the Edgerunners 1 update. A little text-based quest with an iconic item or two."

It is true that CDPR is now hard at work on development for the highly anticipated sequel, as well as work on The Witcher IV, but there is no doubt that another small update tying the two universes together will still be much appreciated by Cyberpunk 2077 fans in the future.
