Sense And Sensibility released in theaters last month in the U.K., and has since garnered some lukewarm reviews.
Some critics have argued that the Gen-Z friendly reboot 'doesn't compare' to Ang Lee's 1995 classic starring Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant.
Film critic Brian Viner for the Daily Mail said, 'This modern love story has lost Austen's 18th Century charms,' and gave the movie two stars.
However, Robbie Collins from The Telegraph offered the latest adaptation five stars and wrote, 'The performances have historically appropriate poise, but also feel fresh and unrehearsed.
'Oakley intensifies the naturalism with the inspired decision to regularly inject scenes with dogs, which sniff and potter around as the drama unfolds, or simply doze at the feet of their master or mistress.
'That might sound trivial, but the effect is humanising and often warmly comic, too.'
Kevin Maher of The Times said: 'This is Austen by numbers, emotionally flat, dramatically uneven and bizarrely, bafflingly, conventional.'
The Independent's Clarisse Loughrey wrote, 'New adaptation isn't meant for Jane Austen purists.
'Still, Esme Creed-Miles and Daisy Edgar-Jones make for a winning Marianne and Elinor, in this very modern take that ramps up the yearning and earthiness of its source material,' she added and gave the movie four stars.
Sense And Sensibility currently has a critics score of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
