Kyle Sandilands' long-time manager Bruno Bouchet checks into mental health facility as radio star makes grim on-air call: 'Look after yourself'

Bruno Bouchet, long-time manager and close friend of Kyle Sandilands, has checked into a mental health facility.

Sandilands, 55, revealed the news on Thursday morning when he made a grim phone call to Bouchet, 40, on Kyle Sandilands Live.

The broadcast producer sounded very downcast when he answered and explained his wife Laura was about to 'drop him off' to receive treatment.

'Can we ring Bruno quickly? I think he's about to be dropped off at the mental institution,' Sandilands explained.

'Poor old Bruno. That's what happens when you snort Ritalin 24 hours a day for four months.

'I had him doing all the legal s*** for me, all day, all night, every day, every night.'

'I'm amazed he got as far as he did, to be honest,' said newsreader Brooklyn Ross.

Bouchet sounded under the weather when the team got him on the line, giving short, sombre answers at first.

'How are you? Are you in the hospital yet?' Sandilands asked, to which Bouchet replied: 'No, not yet.'

'Is your wife going to drop you off?' Sandilands then said.

'Yeah, Laura's dropping me off soon,' Bouchet revealed.

The shock jock went on to ask if Bouchet's wife Laura had been 'kind to him during this time of life'.

'Yeah. It's such a bummer... Just having to go,' Bouchet responded, before later saying he 'appreciated' everything Sandilands had done for him.

'I don't think I've done anything,' Sandilands said.

'You went up with me. That's very kind,' Bouchet said.

'Mate, you're a pleasure to be around. I have never felt like it was a burden or that I was 'putting up with you,"'  Sandilands insisted.

The team went on to shower Bouchet with love and kind words, including Ross who said: 'You're an inspiration Bruno. Look after yourself.'

'It's great that you've gone in voluntarily rather than court ordered,' Sandilands added.

It comes a few months after fans shared concerns about Bouchet's health in August when it was revealed he had been going without sleep to get Sandilands' new show off the ground.

Concerned fans rallied around Bouchet after the exhausted executive revealed he had spent the night sleeping at the studio amid a string of technical disasters that plagued the broadcaster's new subscription venture during its earlier episodes.

Bouchet, the managing director of King Kyle Group, appeared visibly drained during one particular broadcast of Kyle Sandilands Live after working through a weekend to address ongoing technical issues.

He struggled to keep his eyes open throughout the show and at times appeared to slur his speech, prompting worried viewers to beg producers to send him home.

About half an hour into the broadcast, executive producer Jaimee 'Mayo' Blazquez admitted she was trying to find someone familiar with the system so Bruno could finally get some sleep.

'He's here till he's dead!' Sandilands joked.

'I'm a bit tired,' Bouchet replied.

Listeners wasted no time flooding the app's comments section with messages of concern.

'Can someone check on Bruno pls??' someone asked. 'Send him home like proper home not just here in the studio.'

One fan agreed, writing: 'Yeah send Bruno home guys. Find someone to learn his job.'

'Poor Bruno needs a good few days rest,' another commented.

Meanwhile, others were more blunt.

'Is Bruno close to death?' a listener asked, while another wrote: 'Bruno is out of it.'

A third added: 'Little uncomfortable to watch Bruno in this state, you guys need to prioritise his health first before the show.'

'Bruno needs to be put into an uber and sent home,' another listener said. 'It's concerning watching him.'

The worrying scenes came just days after Bouchet made a startling admission about the lengths he had gone to behind the scenes to get the ambitious new platform off the ground.

Speaking as the show's rollout descended into chaos, Bouchet confessed he had gone without sleep while working to develop and launch the service.

'If everything went smoothly it would have been worth not sleeping and snorting Ritalin and everything like that, but it all went to s***,' he said.

Sandilands quickly pushed back on the criticism.

'It didn't go to s***, I just can't hear, I can't hear any audio,' he said. 'The man speaking behind the microphone should be the main one that hears what's going on.'
