The next few months just got a lot more exciting
Image: BethesdaFallout Day, the annual celebration of all things Fallout, spanned a full five days in 2026, starting with a day dedicated to its community on Monday. Publisher Bethesda Softworks focused on giveaways, spotlights, and game announcements, making it clear that Bethesda has a lot in store for Fallout fans over the coming days, weeks, and months. The event came to an end on Friday, after a week-long series of announcements and celebrations in honor of Fallout, Bethesda's beloved post-apocalyptic franchise.
And while we're still waiting for more news on recently announced new Fallout game projects, there was plenty for Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Fallout Shelter fans to chew on this week. Here are the big announcements from Fallout Day 2026.
Pets take over Fallout titles
Several Fallout titles will receive pet-related updates soon. Deathclaws are pretty scary-looking, but what about a baby Deathclaw? Whether you like the idea or not, it's happening, as baby Deathclaws are set to join Fallout Shelter later this year as adoptable pets.
The World Pets update is also coming to Fallout 76, marking the game's 72nd free update. With the patch, pets will no longer be confined to campgrounds. Starting Dec. 1, players will be able to take dogs, cats, Radhogs, and Deathclaws out into the world for a joint adventure. The attack stat is the same, but each species has its own unique buffs to help players on their travels.
Dogs have a great sense of smell, which is why they're able to find medical supplies during combat. Cats, including Robopaw Steel cats, will gift players improved bait to guarantee a better catch when fishing. Rather than digging for truffles, radhogs will actually sniff out radioactive material. Deathclaws are a great choice for clearing infestations, as they grant an additional legendary weapon.
As players spend more time with their pets, they'll be able to level them up and claim perks for each species, improving their carrying capacity, unlocking new buffs, and obtaining new customization options.
New Fallout 4 experiences
Fallout 4 was revived with the release of all-new Verified Creations, some of which have been developed with Bethesda Game Studios' help. Community creators are bringing fresh ideas to the table and keep its player base active. During Fallout Day's many reveals, Bethesda highlighted various creations, including:
- FEVer Dreams from Kinggath Creations (out now), described as "a free escape room-style dungeon that inundates players with hallucinations and flashbacks, including conversations with their spouse." The add-on features the voices of Fallout 4 voice actors Courtenay Taylor and Brian T. Delaney.
- Command Override from Hobgoblin Studios (out now), "allows players to see through a robot’s eyes and pilot it remotely. It includes a new robot hacking ability, a Robco headquarters dungeon, and, of course, a threat to annihilate."
- Fathomless from Zone Zero Creations (coming 2027), is pitched as "a cosmic horror expansion set deep within the Atlantic Ocean. Following the path of an ambitious pre-war expedition, the sole survivor descends to a mysterious deep-sea crater."
Fallout 76 Skyline Valley update
Image: BethesdaFallout 76's Skyline Valley has received an update that improves the region's lighting, terrain, and weather. The update also adds bounty hunting. To start, players must visit the trading post and speak to Marshall Kane, who will pay them for taking out certain factions.
Bethesda also announced that Fallout 76 has been played by more than 25 million players.
Fallout Shelter: The Experiment release date announced
Prime Video is hosting its own Fallout-themed competition, inspired by Fallout Shelter, a free-to-play game where players must build and manage a vault filled with dwellers.
Prime Video and Bethesda are working with Studio Lambert, the production company behind reality competition shows such as Squid Game: The Challenge and The Traitors, and Kilter Films to make the themed competition a reality. Fallout Shelter: The Experiment is set to release Jan. 13, 2027, on Prime Video.
New and returning Fallout partnerships
Beyond the games themselves, Bethesda Softworks is teaming up with other companies and organizations for the following promotions:
- The third annual Fallout Night with the Texas Stars takes place Oct. 24. Attendees can receive a collectible Fallout bobblehead.
- Bethesda is expanding its collaboration with the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas for the World of Fallout exhibit, which "brings together real-world atomic history and the Fallout universe through an immersive collection of props, costumes, and memorabilia from the games and Prime Video series." Two new galleries are coming to the National Atomic Testing Museum, doubling the Fallout exhibit's footprint and featuring interactive installations, museum artifacts, and interpretive displays.
- The Fallout Cafe returns to Tower Records in Tokyo for a second year, offering Fallout-themed food and exclusive merchandise.
- Bethesda and Jones Soda, makers of various Nuka-Cola soda flavors, have a new next collaboration: Project T.W.I.S.T. (Taste-worthiness Initiative for Shelter Transition). Fans will decide the flavor of Nuka Twist, "whose flavor has not yet been established in game content." Voting takes place on the Jones Soda website from Oct. 21-31.
Finally, Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout Day 2027 will take place in Washington, DC, so players can start planning their trip to celebrate Fallout's 30th anniversary with fellow fans. More information will be revealed in the future.
