There is just one day to go until Summer Game Fest 2026, and with the event expected to showcase some incredible upcoming releases, one insider believes that this may just be the moment that Square Enix reveals news about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3.
Serving as a complete remake of 1997's Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII Remake launched back in 2020 as the first part in a trilogy. Set in Midgar, players take on the role of Cloud Strife as he joins eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE as they try to stop the megacorporation Shinra from using the planet's life essence as an energy source. Since its launch, Final Fantasy VII Remake has been praised for its graphics, gameplay, narrative, and music, with critics appreciating the expanded story and combat mechanics.
As such, when the second installment, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, launched in 2024, it received much the same praise, which is why it is no wonder that fans are eager to learn when they can expect the trilogy's finale to be announced.
At the time of writing, neither a release date nor even a title of the third installment has been revealed by Square Enix, but according to notorious leaker Nate the Hate, we could receive the long-awaited news as early as tomorrow, 5 June.
This is because the leaker believes that Square Enix will make an appearance at the upcoming Summer Game Fest 2026, and it is here that we could receive that much-needed news. In a recent Reddit thread, Nate the Hate wrote, "I expect it will be at SGF," in response to somebody asking if it was true about FFVII's appearance. As always, it is worth taking news like this with a pinch of salt, as although the insider has been correct about past claims, they have also missed the mark on many occasions.
Nevertheless, fans of the Square Enix franchise took to the Reddit comments to share their thoughts on the potential of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3's appearance.
"If I stay awake for the Summer Game Show and there is no FF7 part 3, you will hear from me," one user joked. Another fan thinks the speculation may be correct, sharing, "I was thinking about this earlier. It wasn't in the Sony stream, so I think SGF makes the most sense. It's likely going to be released on all systems and PC simultaneously, and it's a pretty big deal, the kind of thing Geoff [Keighley] would like to have at his event."
With just over 24 hours to go until Summer Game Fest 2026 goes live, we do not have long to wait to see if Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will be making an appearance, but there is one thing for sure, and that is that it will no doubt live up to the hype of its predecessors when it does.
