At one point, Gundam was just a singular franchise. As one of the major properties that started as an anime rather than being adapted from a manga, Gundam helped define the mecha genre for decades and delivered a ton of political intrigue and drama along the way.
From there, it grew into a Hydra of a property. There are over 50 Gundam projects to date, and keeping track of everything as a new fan is incredibly hard. But given how much quality is present in the Gundam series as a whole, there's a great hit rate, and a ton of worlds to discover.
That includes Gundam Blitz Order, which was just confirmed on X. Thanks to a new official reveal, we know exactly when it's arriving.
Bandai Namco has officially announced Gundam Blitz Order, a mobile game coming to the App Store and Google Play in the future, with a network test running in November. Described as an "idle simulation game," you'll use suits from across the Gundam universe, along with "new warships and armor," plus team-building elements. The official launch trailer is available above.
Here's how Gundam Blitz Order will play out, with the aim of developing suits, equipping them, and letting them rip in battle:
"Develop your units at your own pace, with enhancement materials collected effortlessly in auto-battle mode. Then, strengthen your team, level up all your units at once, and aim for victory! If you develop an entirely new unit, they can go into battle right away. Build your team, plan your strategy and lead them to victory!
Featuring mobile suits, warships, and armours from across the Gundam series, create your unique team by making strategic use of each unit’s abilities, traits, and EX skills. From intense boss battles to warship escorting missions, a wide variety of content awaits, including PvP modes! Hone your skills and enjoy everything the game has to offer!
So when can you actually play it? Bandai Namco has revealed that the official network test starts on November 18, so the wait won't be that long. The testing application period will begin on October 15 and run through October 26. Then, the test will kick off on November 18 and run through November 24. There's also a small giveaway going on for an exclusively designed and branded phone stand. More details are on the official site.
We're currently in the middle of the 40th anniversary of Gundam, if you can believe it, and it looks as if there are plenty more surprises to come. 2027 will see a brand-new live-action movie starring Syndey Sweeney, and no doubt there'll be even more games and immersive experiences released to captilize on the big-screen outing.
With a strategic top-down camera and some well-designed suits, this could be one of the better mobile Gundam experiences if the studio isn't keen on making it a gacha-fest. The test will take place in roughly a month, so we can see how it'll all shake out then.
