Guy Ritchie’s 8-Part Netflix Thriller Gets Even Better Ahead Of Season 2

After joining Screen Rant in January 2025, Guy became a Senior Features Writer in March of the same year, and now specializes in features about classic TV shows. With several years' experience writing for and editing TV, film and music publications, his areas of expertise include a wide range of genres, from comedies, animated series, and crime dramas, to Westerns and political thrillers.

In addition to his newfound TV successes Prime Video and Paramount+, Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix gangster series is returning later this year, in better shape than ever. This spinoff of Ritchie’s earlier movie of the same name has added yet more stars to its cast list for season 2, alongside some major plot developments.

While Young Sherlock and MobLand have understandably been grabbing all the headlines over the past year, The Gentlemen has quietly gone about its business, preparing a scintillating new season for fans of its creator’s fast-paced gangster thrillers to enjoy. The series seemingly ended on a shocking twist in 2024, before being renewed six months later.

Now, even more acting talent is joining the cast of The Gentlemen, as Ritchie looks to expand on its first season. Meanwhile, the show’s biggest names will be returning for season 2, including Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, and Giancarlo Esposito.

James and Scodelario will resume their roles as protagonists Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass, who now share control of a vast narcotics empire, under the watchful eye of Ray Winstone’s Bobby Glass. But the return of these series regulars is far from the biggest update around The Gentlemen season 2.

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen Now Has An Even Better Cast

Two years on from its Netflix debut, The Gentlemen surely has one of the best casts on the streaming platform. Several fresh faces have joined for its second season, the most prominent of whom is Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville. He’ll be playing a new criminal character deeply intertwined with Eddie and Susie’s drug-dealing underworld.

Meanwhile, no fewer than eight other newcomers will be introduced in season 2. Perhaps the standout names are musician Benjamin Clementine, who previously appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s movie Dune, British TV presenter and DJ Maya Jama, and world champion boxer Chris Eubank Jr..

Viewers might also recognize Sergio Castellitto from the Oscar-winning movie Conclave, as well as Michele Morrone and Benedetta Porcaroli from Netflix’s chart-topping hits 365 Days and The Leopard, respectively. To these newcomers we can add a whole host of returning stars, including longtime Guy Ritchie collaborators Vinnie Jones and Dar Salim.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms actor Daniel Ings will be back too, as loose cannon Freddy Horniman, who provides much of The Gentlemen’s comic relief. Overall, very few other Netflix series could offer up a list of screen performers even half this good.

What To Expect From The Gentlemen Season 2

The Gentlemen season 2 will be released on Netflix at some point in the fall of 2026, although the exact release date is yet to be confirmed. Filming for the season wrapped back in October 2025, and the release window likely has more to do with Guy Ritchie’s schedule than anything else.

Ritchie has already overseen another major streaming release in 2026, after Young Sherlock debuted on Prime Video in March. He’s currently involved in the production of its second season, in addition to the post-production of MobLand season 2 for Paramount+.

Just like season 1, The Gentlemen’s second season will consist of eight episodes averaging just under an hour each in running time. Its plot will pick things up where the first season finale left off, with Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass having willingly taken full control of the drug empire run from the Halstead estate.

It looks as though Susie’s father Bobby is still going to be pulling strings from prison, however, as he revealed he never intended to retire in season 1’s final twist. The stakes are inevitably going to be raised this time around, with The Gentlemen bringing more potential adversaries into play, while Eddie and Susie’s ambitions grow.
