Hogwarts Legacy really did seem to capture the imagination of the public who were searching for new stories in the Harry Potter universe, with many still spending their time exploring the world Avalanche Studios created, despite some pretty notable flaws.
The game currently serves as the third most-played single-player game on PlayStation 5, beating out some genuine heavy hitters to earn the bronze medal. If you haven't got in on the action just yet, the developer is currently working on the sequel, so it's a great time to play catch-up and see what's on offer. Happily, you might not even need to spend any more of your hard-earned money to do so.
Hogwarts Legacy Is Free For Millions Right Now
Over on Reddit, one user shared a post detailing how Hogwarts Legacy serves as the best experience they have had with a game included in their PlayStation Plus subscription. If you weren't already aware, the game is available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, meaning if you have the service anyway, you can play through the whole thing at no extra cost.
The comments were filled with responses agreeing with the original post, with Hogwarts Legacy serving as one of the bigger and better games available on PS Plus right now.
"I felt like HL was really ambitious for a first go at an open world, custom character HP game. Definitely room to grow for a sequel but they had to make this game to learn from its gaps. Overall, I really enjoyed it and am glad it was made," one comment read.
"I'm a big fan too, and I'm glad you're enjoying it! My only complaints were that Hogwarts feels underutilized, like I'd have loved a Bully-style lesson system. And that the entire bottom part of the map, after you go through the tunnel, feels pointless," another added.
"This game is awesome! I think exploration of the school is far better than the open world gameplay but overall this is a great game. I think hatred of huge open world games is a little excessive, as I imagine devs don’t intend for you to actually do everything, but it is good to always have something to do nearby in the world," a third said.
PlayStation Plus Subscribers Shouldn't Miss Out
If you have even a passing interest in the Wizarding World, or open-world RPGs more generally, then Hogwarts Legacy is absolutely worth trying out. As some of the comments mention, there are areas for improvement in the upcoming sequel, but there are still plenty of hours of fun to be had if you give it the chance.
