How Tall Is Victor Wembanyama? Your Spurs Phenom Questions, Answered

2 NBA Fans Banned for Life After Storming Court During Knicks vs. Spurs Game

Victor Wembanyama's height has spurred some questions.

Mainly, how tall is he really? The San Antonio Spurs center has towered over players throughout his career. And while many will shoot their shot at guessing his exact measurements, he often dribbles around the topic.

"Over the years, it’s become a non-subject to me," Wembanyama—a.k.a. Wemby—said during an October press conference. "Because, in my opinion, there’s so many more interesting things about me."

And the athlete won’t be pressed for an answer. "Sometimes I’m surprised that it’s still a conversation," he continued. "Because, yeah, the truth is, in my mind, it doesn’t really make a difference. I’m taller than anybody else. That’s all you need to know."

Besides, he has a taller order at hand: the 2026 NBA Finals. The Spurs lost to the New York Knicks in Game 1 on June 3 with a final score of 95 to 105. And while Wembanyama and his team may have come up short, he isn’t too worried.

"We’re gonna have many more chances," he said in a post-game press conference. "It’s a first-to-four series. So we’re gonna have time to work on it."

Fans can watch the Spurs and the Knicks face off in Game 2 June 5 starting at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC and the ESPN app. Until then, get in the zone by reading more about Wembanyama.

How Tall Is Victor Wembanyama?

The no. 1 question for no. 1. And the answer is…well, it depends on who you ask.

While Wembanyama’s official NBA profile lists his height at 7-foot-4, eagle-eyed sports fans noticed it used to say 7-foot-5. What’s even more confusing? Back in 2023, per the Associated Press, the Spurs said Wemby was a little over 7-foot-3—but that was without shoes. And some think he’s even taller than all these figures.

"He was listed at 7-foot-3 as a rookie but that was a lie," ESPN's Brian Windhorst told basketball player Boban Marjanovi on NBA Today in October. "He was not 7-foot-3. I believe he was actually about 7-foot-5. He's now listed at 7-foot-5. Boban, I think he might be approaching 7-foot-7 unofficially."

In any case, Wembanyama—who also has an 8-foot wingspan, according to the NBA—has always been a tall guy. When asked in a 2024 NHL video when he hit 5-foot-10, the basketball star replied, "Probably 9."

How Old Is Victor Wembanyama?

Born in Paris on January 4, 2004, the French athlete is 22 years old.

What Is Victor Wembanyama’s Shoe Size?

While neither Wembanyama nor the Spurs have confirmed his shoe size, NBA Kicks tweeted a photo of him lacing up his sneakers in 2022 along with the words "size 20.5!"

When Was Victor Wembanyama Drafted by the San Antonio Spurs?

After playing in the French league—first for Nanterre 92, then ASVEL and finally Metropolitans 92— Wembanyama was the no. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. And his first season was a slam dunk as he was named the 2023-2024 Rookie of the Year.

Who Are Victor Wembanyama's Parents?

Athleticism and height clearly run in the Wembanyama family. According to Wemby's Olympic bio, his father Félix Wembanyama—who stands at 6-foot-5—represented Congo in track and field while his mother Elodie de Fautereau—also tall at 6-foot-2—played basketball for the French national team before becoming a youth coach.

"They didn’t really interfere with my sport. They let me be how I wanted to be," Wembanyama told Good Morning America in 2023. "They made a lot of sacrifices. On the other hand, they’re gonna be able to retire early."

Wembanyama also has a 24-year-old sister, Ève Wembanyama, who stands at 6-foot-1, and a 19-year-old brother, Oscar Wembanyama, who is 6 feet, 7 inches tall, and they both play basketball.

What Are Victor Wembanyama's Stats?

Wembanyama averaged 25 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game during the 2025-2026 regular season. During Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the Western Conference MVP had 26 points, 12 rebounds and two assists. However, he shot 6-for-21 from the field and 2-for-9 from the three-point range.

"We’ve been down in the series before—never in the finals, obviously," Wembanyama said in the post-game press conference June 3. "But I’m not kicking myself about anything really. I’m not worried the slightest."

Did Victor Wembanyama Get Deported?

No, what you’re seeing plastered across social media is simply clickbait. Though a post alleged he was deported to France following an immigration paperwork dispute, he remains in the U.S. gearing up for Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals.
