Julianne Hough Reveals What Contributed to Her Divorce From Brooks Laich

Brooks Laich has found his forever teammate in Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir.

The former NHL star married the CrossFit champion in front of 110 guests at their lakeside home near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 15.

"It was a dream come true for both of us," Laich said of the wedding in a People interview published Aug. 18, with his bride sharing how they knew the ceremony would take place at their house "from the start."

"We knew we wanted to get married here, just welcome everybody here," continued Davíðsdóttir, who shares 10-month-old daughter Emberly with Laich. “I was like, ‘We just want to be on an adventure. Whatever happens, happens. And if it doesn’t go according to perfect plan, that’s OK.'"

Indeed, the couple of over five years were very laid back during their wedding weekend. Though entire affair felt "very much like a destination wedding" with family arriving from out of town, Laich, 43, and Davíðsdóttir, 33, made sure guests felt relaxed by kicking off the three-day celebration with a dinner at Elk Point.

"That’s where all worlds are going to collide," Laich said, "and everybody will meet everybody.”

At the ceremony the next day, Davíðsdóttir walked down the aisle in a sleeveless WONÁ Concept gown featuring a thigh-high slit. Meanwhile, Laich donned a classic black suit.

The newlyweds exchanged vows in front of family and friends, including their dog Koda, and rang in their union with a reception dinner on two floating barges. They enjoyed their first dance to “I Just Love You” by Roo Panes—the same song that played when Laich proposed in 2024—before surprising guests with a massive candy bar filled with treats representing “the best of Iceland and Canada.”

The festivities were held just miles away from the waterfront resort where Laich tied the knot with Julianne Hough in 2017. The pair broke up in 2020 and finalized their divorce two years later.

Since then, they've remained friendly. In fact, Hough had nothing but kind words when Laich and Davíðsdóttir first got engaged.

"I'm so happy for you both as you step into this beautiful new chapter together," she wrote on Instagram in response to their engagement announcement. "Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures."
