Ladies of London’s Martha Sitwell Shares Her Pet Bird Hecate Drowned

‘RHOC’ Star Shannon Beador Mourns Death of Dog Archie After Brain Cancer

Ladies of London star Martha Sitwell is in mourning.

The 46-year-old announced the sudden death of her bird Hecate, who viewers of the Bravo show know was her beloved longtime companion.

"I'm so sorry, everybody," Sitwell shared through tears in a video posted to Instagram June 25. "I've got the worst news to share with you all. Hecate died yesterday. She drowned, and she was always so cautious about water."

"There was a tub I left outside that was too deep," she continued. "It was right next to her bath. I don't understand why she went in it, and it was a momentary lapse of concentration, and I am so sorry."

The model went on to explain that Hecate going into the tub was out of character for the bird.

"When I couldn't find her yesterday morning, the last place I thought to look was in that tub," Sitwell said. "She was so clever and so cautious about water."

"I'm so sorry," Sitwell concluded. "I'm so sorry, everybody. I know you loved her as much as I did, and I'm completely shattered. I'm so sorry."

The reality star introduced Hecate to the world on the first season of Bravo's Ladies of London: New Reign, which aired earlier this year and was a reboot of the series that originally aired for three seasons between 2014 and 2017.

Hecate flew around Sitwell's cottage at her leisure, which prompted some of her visitors to wear protective goggles when they came over. The bird would routinely fly in and out of scenes, often landing on Sitwell's head. In one particularly memorable moment, Sitwell met with a pet communicator and shared that she considered herself related to Hecate.

"I do think she's my mother reincarnated," Sitwell shared. "Hecate and my mother are both massive drama queens. They both love the company of gentlemen, and they both drink quite a lot."

As for how Hecate came to live with the former designer in the first place, Sitwell didn’t hesitate to take a young animal in need under her wing.

"Hecate fell or was pushed from her nest as a tiny baby and wasn't going to make it on her own," she told Axwell Arigato in a video shared to Instagram June 20. "No parents were feeding, and one of my followers found her and knew that I'd rescue most things.”

From there, the rest was history, with Hecate creating mischievous joy throughout Sitwell’s home.

"Hecate steals everything," she continued. "Everything belongs to Hecate. She's a bit like Princess Margaret, she loves boys and booze. She wakes me up at about 5 a.m. She gets up and then starts crashing around until the staff come and give her worms."

"And then quite often we'll have a bath together and then I go off and walk my dogs, and she shouts at people through the window," Sitwell continued. "I cannot get enough of her. I'm obsessed with her. I just love spending time with her. She's clever and engaging and funny."
