NetEase Games officially revealed Marvel Rivals season 10 today, and the announcement trailer included a couple of bombshells. As the developer has been teasing for weeks, the next season will be centered around the introduction of Gorr the God Butcher. Before the legendary Thor villain is even made playable, he's already living up to his name.
The announcement trailer shows Gorr attacking Asgard and battling Loki. Gorr drives All-Black the Necrosword through the god of mischief, seemingly killing him. The game's roster currently reflects this. As of today, Loki is marked as dead on the roster and can't be selected for play. It's a neat gimmick to reflect the game's ongoing story, and it could mean bad news for the other divine beings still alive. With season 10 set to launch on Sept. 11, players likely won't have to wait long for Loki to become playable again. The only question is how the story will explain his return.
Gorr the God Butcher release date and abilities in Marvel Rivals
Gorr will be released on the same day as season 10. He's a duelist, Marvel Rivals' equivalent of a DPS hero. All-Black will be able to morph into different forms depending on the battle situation. When Gorr defeats enemies, phantom Black Berserkers rise in their place to continue the attack. He also has the ability to traverse the map through dashing and teleporting. His ultimate ability seems to empower All-Black with extra strength, unleashing a deadly barrage against enemies alongside more powerful Black Berserkers.
Season 10 will also add the domination map, God Quarry. On the cosmetic side, NetEase Games is introducing the Jeff's Dream Eater event, which will bring with it a slew of pajama outfits for heroes. Despite past rumors that more X-Men would be added in the second half of season 10, NetEase stated that Gorr will be the only hero added to Marvel Rivals in season 10. The second half of the season will focus on rolling out phases three and four of the ongoing Path to Doomsday event that introduces new game modes themed to the MCU's Avengers movies.
