Marvel's New Iron Man/Hulk Combo Has a Vital Power All of His Own
Marvel just gave us a glimpse of an awesome Iron Man/Hulk combo, but is it going to stick around? Fan-favorite Hulk supporting character Amadeus Cho, also known as Brawn, just got his own armored suit. Let's take a look at the design, plus one crucial upgrade that makes it even more powerful.
Imperial Guardians #2 is written by Dan Abnett, with art by Marcelo Ferreira. It's a potential starring turn for Amadeus Cho, who has bided his time as a secondary figure in Hulk lore for 20+ years.
Cho is more than ready for the spotlight, and his "Hulkbuster" moment makes good on his potential.
Amadeus Cho's Hulkbuster Armor Returns, And He Reveals A Crucial New Upgrade To The Suit
Imperial Guardians #2, Written By Dan Abnett; Art By Marcelo Ferreira; Available Now From Marvel Comics
"I didn't want to do this," Amadeus Cho tells his foe in Imperial Guardians #2, "but you've forced me." Of course, Cho already has Hulk powers, and so putting him in Hulkbuster armor might feel redundant, except for one crucial factor: the armor's "psionic shielding," which gives it a little bit of the same flare as Magneto's helmet.
Once he's armored up, Cho dominates in Imperial Guardians #2. He calls the look "fitted and slimming," before giving his opponent a taste of "what it can do" in battle. The armor's design stylistically evokes longtime Iron Man ally War Machine. For Cho, who is already an offshoot of one of Marvel's most famous heroes, briefly becoming an Iron Man too is certainly a sign of Marvel's faith in the character. But will it last?
Marvel Fans Want Amadeus Cho's Hulkbuster Look To Be More Prominent Moving Forward
The New Look Is Still Catching On
Amateus Cho's turn as an "Iron Hulk" or "Hulkbuster Hulk" in Imperial Guardians #2 lasts just a few glorious panels. It remains TBD if the armor is a standard part of the hero's arsenal now, or when he might bust it out next. That said, Marvel fans might be miffed if this is just a one-and-done use of the design.
There's plenty of love for Amadeus Cho in Marvel fandom. He's been an integral part of Hulk canon's extended cast of characters since 2005, and he's always been a bit of an amalgam of classic Marvel heroes. He has a genius-level intellect akin to Bruce Banner, or Reed Richards, and since becoming Brawn he's been a Hulk-level fighter as well.
Cho's Hulkbuster armor variant was introduced in a 2025 comic, but hasn't been used much yet. Until Imperial Guardians #2, that is. With this brief appearance, readers are now expecting bigger and better things from the hero, as Marvel officially positions him as a Hulk/Iron Man mash-up with a bright future.
Imperial Guardians #2 is available now from Marvel Comics.
Speak up, Marvel fans. What do you think of Amadeus Cho's new upgrade?
