Matt Damon reveals 'new phase of life' as he brings wife and rarely seen daughter, 20, to The Odyssey premiere

Matt Damon revealed his 'new phase of life' just before bringing his family to the New York City premiere of his latest film The Odyssey on Tuesday night.

The Oscar-winner, 55, is a proud dad of four daughters with longtime wife Luciana Barroso-Damon, 49.

Over the course of their incredible 21-year marriage, the couple have welcomed Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15.

Damon legally adopted Luciana's 27-year-old daughter Alexia from a previous marriage shortly after their 2005 nuptials

And in a new interview with People, Damon provided rare insight on his family of six as he spoke about what he is being 'mindful' of as his daughters grow older.

'Having two older kids who are out of the nest and knowing how fast these final years go, we're trying to be mindful of holding onto what we can,' he told the outlet.

Alexia has followed in her dad's Hollywood footsteps and now works as a cinematographer, with Damon recently revealing she already has 12 films under her belt before the age of 30.

Meanwhile, Isabella has been off studying at New York University since 2024 - leaving Damon and Barroso with just two daughters under their roof.

Though bittersweet, Damon referred to his impending empty-nester years as his 'new phase of life.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Damon for comment but has yet to hear back. 

On Tuesday, Damon got to share the spotlight with NYU student Isabella as he brought her and wife Luciana to the latest press tour stop for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

The trio walked the red carpet together outside NYC's iconic AMC Lincoln Square along with the likes of Damon's co-stars Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

Wearing a stylish blue suit and polka dot tie, Damon arrived holding hands with Isabella.

The 20-year-old nearly towered over her dad in an elegant black slip dress and heels.

Meanwhile, Luciana looked sensational next to Damon in a silky white backless gown with a silver chainlink halter neck.

The Argentinian-born beauty had her brunette tresses styled in an updo and opted for a soft glam makeup look.

While only Isabella was present for Tuesday's premiere in New York City, all four of Damon's daughters flew to England last week to support him at the London premiere of The Odyssey.

Damon, Luciana and their girls gathered together for a rare family group shot.

During the press tour stop in London, Damon couldn't help but brag about his daughter Alexia's burgeoning Hollywood career

'She's done about 12 movies. [She’s] worked on the camera team all over the world,' he told E! News on July 6.

He then revealed if Isabella, Gia and Stella also have plans to get into show business.

'The other three might,' he said. 'I have one who's at NYU now, who's a fantastic writer, so I could see her following me into screenwriting.

'And we have two still in high school, so we'll see.'

Damon has the lead role in Christopher Nolan's latest project The Odyssey after the actor famously appeared in the director's 2023 Oscar-winning project Oppenheimer.

In The Odyssey, Damon plays Odysseus opposite Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope in the big screen adaptation of the Greek epic.

Tom Holland features as the couple's son Telemachus, while his wife and Spider-Man co-star Zendaya is playing the goddess Athena. 

Robert Pattinson plays the villainous role of Penelope's suitor Antinous, with Charlize Theron and Samantha Morton respectively as the goddesses Calypso and Circe.

Jon Bernthal plays the Spartan king Menelaus and Benny Safdie has been cast as his brother Agamemnon, the king of Mycenae.

Ahead of its July 17 theatrical release, critics have already branded Nolan's nearly three-hour project an 'absolute triumph.'

Some have even gone as far as to call it the director's 'crowning cinematic achievement.'

Along with the praise and hype, The Odyssey has also been the target of fierce online backlash due to its alleged 'woke' casting.

Some have taken issue with Nolan's hiring of black performers, such as Zendaya and Nyong'o, in an adaptation of a Greek mythology.

Elon Musk went viral for co-signing rude remarks surrounding Nyong'o's 'beauty' as conservative activists questioned her casting as Helen of Troy.

Trans actor Elliot Page's inclusion has drawn brickbats after it was incorrectly claimed that he would be playing the role of the Greek hero Achilles.

It was later confirmed that Page would be starring as Odysseus's cousin Sinon.
