Deep dive on Pokémon Pokopia DLC shows new features and quality-of-life additions

Pokémon Pokopia receives the first stage of its three-part expansion pass, Bubbly Basin, this Wednesday. Fans are beyond excited to dive back into the game, especially now that they get to go below the surface and explore the depths of the ocean.

While teasers have given players a glance at what's to come, there's still plenty that remains a mystery. Japan's Famitsu got to try out the first part of the Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass during development. The magazine shared the experience in an intriguing article, providing new details about what's to come in Pokémon Pokopia update v2.0.0, as well as Bubbly Basin.

Confirmed to be added to the Pokédex in Bubbly Basin are Pokémon Diglett, Golisopod, Stunfisk, and Sharpedo. With the expansion pass, players will be able to build habitats for these creatures and befriend them. The base game allows players to have the Dive ability and go underwater, but they will not be able to register Pokémon, as they inhabit Bubbly Basin.

Besides Dive, gamers can use their other abilities underwater, and there is even an upgrade for the Surf move that will make their lives much easier while below the surface. In Bubbly Basin, players can obtain a blender, which allows them to make smoothies and power up Surf. Once upgraded, the move will receive a speed boost and allow players to destroy underwater blocks.

As some Pokémon Pokopia players might have a hard time keeping their bearings and may experience motion sickness, the game's developers have added visual indicators to address that. Players will be able to view the underwater action with a frame and an icon at the very center of the screen to help orientate them.

Another great feature that's coming Aug. 5 for free is a special container that can be placed in several towns. The loot inside can always be accessed regardless of where it was originally placed. In total. In total, it will have 140 free slots.

This way, players won't have to constantly fast-travel somewhere to find an item. It's a game-changing feature, especially for fans who have storage boxes scattered across the map or a large inventory and cannot recall where they might've left something.
