An experienced Editor representing Canada via ScreenRant's Team Anime, J.R. has been reading manga since the first printing of Shonen Jump in North America. This passion drove him to write about anime, manga, and manhwa since 2022, having recently served as Lead Anime Editor for ComicBook.com.
His favorite moments in media coverage include reviewing the series premieres of Zom 100 and Bleach: TYBW Part 2 back-to-back and briefly meeting Junji Ito at a VIZ gallery event in 2023.
Nearly two months ago, a major update came out of the official Naruto social media channels as well as VIZ Media: that a new anime project was being announced at New York Comic Con. Now, as the franchise held its panel today on October 10, 2026, the franchise's future was finally laid out, with Naruto's newest series officially coming, titled Naruto x Ninku. It's welcome news straight out of the "NARUTO: What's Next?" panel at NYCC 2026, after years of teases of remade episodes and Boruto's Part 2 anime return, especially since the other Shonen Big Three anime franchises have continued to enjoy the spotlight with more One Piece movies and Bleach concluding its Thousand-Year Blood War finale.
The new Naruto anime, as shown with a brand-new trailer at NYCC, comes after a particularly long three-year wait following the last episodes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations airing. It's a series featuring the work of both Masashi Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama, in which Team 7 wanders into the world very much different from their own. Realistically, any new project would be thrilling for fans to see, so this new glimpse, in addition to information on its global premier, makes it worth the wait. With the presence of Studio Pierrot personnel alongside Naruto & Sasuke voice actors Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, it couldn't feel more official as the Naruto franchise finally maps out its future.
