‘NAZA’ Documentary from ‘No Other Land’ Directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor Sets North American Premiere at NYFF

Just when it seemed like the 2026 New York Film Festival lineup was complete, another major film has been added to the 64th edition.

“NAZA,” a new documentary about the war in Gaza from Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, will make its North American premiere at NYFF. The Lincoln Center screening will follow its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.

Abraham and Szor served as two of the four directors of the critically acclaimed (and inevitably controversial) 2024 documentary “No Other Land.” They shared directing duties with Palestinian filmmakers Basel Adra and Hamdan Ballal. That Oscar-winning film was notable for its collaboration between Palestinian and Israeli artists and its unapologetic support for the Palestinian cause.

While Abraham and Szor are working by themselves this time around, “NAZA” explores similar subject matter. Shot on the rooftops of Tel Aviv, the new film takes a closer look at the practices of the Israeli Defense Forces, taking its title from a military term for the number of civilian casualties that are expected from a given operation.

“NAZA” is produced by The Guardian and James Wilson for JW Films. Jonathan Glazer also serves as an executive producer on the film. Wilson notably produced Glazer’s most recent film, “The Zone of Interest.”

“’NAZA’ is an important investigative documentary about one of the gravest catastrophes of our time. The film brings critical information to light and, through its singular cinematic language, prompts broader questions of individual and societal complicity and accountability, especially in a time of intersecting global conflicts and endless wars,” NYFF artistic director Dennis Lim said in a statement. “Like many films in this year’s NYFF slate, it demonstrates cinema’s enduring ability to reflect and engage with the world around us.”

Other notable titles on the NYFF 2026 slate include “Behemoth!,” “Godzilla Minus Zero,” “Tender Loving Care,” “Paper Tiger,” “14th,” “Fjord,” “Club Kid,” and the new restoration of “Ken Russell’s The Devils.” The complete Main Slate lineup, featuring films from 31 different countries, is available here.
