New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Revealed at D23
Marvel Studios gave MCU fans another look at this year's tentpole movie event, Avengers: Doomsday, in a new trailer that debuted at Disney's D23 fan convention. It's the same trailer that was shown to San Diego Comic-Con attendees at Marvel's Hall H panel, but millions will now get their first clear look at it.
In the new two-minute trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, we see members of the Fantastic Four — Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) — separately realizing and recounting to others the danger that Doctor Doom presents. We get a few glimpses of our heroes, from Ant-Man to Captain America to Thor, embracing their loved ones as Doom warns them that they're leading "stolen lives." Again, we see Thor face off against Doom, but now we get a longer look at the latter swatting the God of Thunder away like a pesky fly. It's a real display of Doom's power that culminates in the Latverian lord reviving a small army of broken Sentinels.
Here's Marvel's official synopsis for the film:
Avengers: Doomsday follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
After a series of middling box office showings for its superhero movies, Marvel Studios hopes to return to Avengers: Endgame glory with an all-star show of force that brings back characters from the past decade-plus of the MCU and the Fox era of X-Men films. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo return to Marvel with the mandate of reviving the broad cultural interest (and box office) of their previous Avengers twofer.
The next Avengers movie stars Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside returning Marvel actors Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday lands in movie theaters on Dec. 18. A direct sequel to Doomsday is already in the works with 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars.
