Nvidia (NVDA) Stock: Faces New AI Chip Challenge From Huawei
TLDR
- Nvidia (NVDA) Stock rises as Huawei advances its AI chip roadmap for 2027
- Huawei plans two new AI chips as it expands domestic computing capacity
- Nvidia (NVDA) Stock faces a new challenge from Huawei’s chip expansion plans
- Huawei expands UnifiedBus as it connects more chips across large computing systems
- Huawei has shipped over 1,000 supernode systems to more than 370 customers
Nvidia (NVDA) stock trades at $219.13, up 2.45%, as Huawei advances new chips for artificial intelligence computing. Nvidia recently moved above $218.00 and approached the $220.00 resistance level. Meanwhile, Huawei plans two new chips in 2027 as it expands its computing hardware lineup.
Huawei Brings Forward Its New Chip Roadmap
Huawei plans to launch the 960DT chip during the first quarter of 2027. The company will then introduce the Ascend 960PR during the third quarter of 2027. Previously, Huawei had scheduled the Ascend 960 for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Therefore, the revised schedule places Huawei’s 960DT launch earlier within its previous roadmap. Additionally, the Ascend 960PR will extend Huawei’s chip lineup during the same year. Huawei announced the updated timeline at its Huawei Connect event in Shanghai.
The company has also developed UnifiedBus, which connects multiple chips within larger computing systems. Huawei has built 11 chips around UnifiedBus for its supernode and supercluster systems. Consequently, Huawei’s hardware strategy covers both accelerators and the systems that connect them.
Huawei Expands Large-Scale Computing Systems
Huawei has already shipped more than 1,000 supernode systems to customers. The systems have reached more than 370 customers across its existing market. Moreover, the supernodes combine several accelerators for workloads requiring more computing power.
UnifiedBus forms part of Huawei’s approach to connecting multiple AI chips within larger computing structures. The technology allows several processors to operate together inside supernode and supercluster systems. Huawei continues developing hardware around this interconnect technology.
Nvidia has built its computing platform around GPUs, networking, and large-scale infrastructure. Huawei is developing its own combination of chips, interconnect technology, and computing systems. Therefore, the competition now includes complete computing architectures alongside individual processors.
Nvidia Faces A Broader Hardware Challenge
Nvidia stock remains near the $220.00 level after its recent move above $218.00. A move above $220.00 would mark another price level for Nvidia following its latest advance. The $218.00 and $217.00 areas remain the nearby support levels in the supplied market data.
Huawei’s faster chip schedule adds another development to China’s domestic computing hardware market. The company plans two new products during 2027 while expanding its UnifiedBus-based systems. Meanwhile, Huawei has already delivered more than 1,000 supernode systems.
Nvidia continues to operate within a market where computing demand requires chips and supporting infrastructure. Huawei’s roadmap shows continued development of competing hardware and connected computing systems. As a result, Nvidia faces competition from a broader hardware strategy within China’s computing market.
