Olivia Dean halts Paris concert to reveal Harry Kane has scored during England's first World Cup game

Olivia Dean paused her gig on Wednesday evening to announce that Harry Kane had scored for England in their first World Cup game against Croatia.

The singer, 27, took her The Art of Loving Live tour to France this week, where she performed one date in Paris, following a string of London shows.

Despite being out of the UK, Olivia stopped her show to reveal that her team had scored a goal just 12 minutes into their match.

Olivia, who had been told by somebody backstage about the news, said: 'Oh England just scored! Yes! Let's do this'.

She could be seen jumping around the stage in celebration of the goal, which was the first of four scored by England, in the match which ended 4-2.

The crowd roared back in celebration with the performer, suggesting there may have been a lot of England fans in the audience.

The London-born star then broke into a rendition of her hit song Man I Need, singing 'talk to me, talk to me' to the crowd.

Olivia looked incredible during the evening in a gold fringe dress and she wore her dark curly locks loose, which bounced around as she danced and jumped on stage.

The moment was caught on video and shared on social media by a member of the audience, with other fans sharing their joy in the comments section.

They said: 'Kane's the man that we need baby!'; 'England just scored... talk to me, talk to me!'; 'England'; 'Don't Kane me in!'

It is only two years ago that she was playing a small music venue in Glasgow with a capacity of just 300.

But Grammy-winning star Olivia has capped a remarkable rise to stardom with what the city’s huge OVO Hydro arena has praised as one of its top-selling performances ever.

The singer, whose hits include Man I Need and So Easy (To Fall In Love), kicked off her UK tour at the Scottish venue earlier this week in the venue that has a 14,000 capacity.

The first notes of the Art of Loving Tour sounded out just two years after Dean performed at an iconic – but tiny – Glasgow venue.

At one stage she told fans: 'This is crazy. Apologies if I get emotional tonight but I just can’t believe how many people are here. Today we were driving in and I drove past King Tut’s. I played there two years ago, and there was 300 people in the room.

'Now I’m here with all of you, so thank you so much for being here.'

She is one of the few stars to have taken a stand against exorbitant ticket prices, demanding that Ticketmaster refund overcharged fans and cap prices - something she hopes will inspire her fellow artists to emulate.

She declared: 'There is no way that I’m going to get up on that stage and sing my heart out while somebody sits at home and makes $500 or $600 off of me and you.

'I want people to be able to afford to come to the show. I don’t think you need to be someone who’s got loads of money to enjoy your favorite album. Full stop.'

Her strong statement on the issue comes after fellow Brit Harry Styles was branded 'greedy' and 'out of touch' over the sky-high ticket prices for his Together Together tour.

Seats on the London leg range from £44 ($60.80) to a £466.24 ($642.76) for seats, while the standing prices range from £144 ($199.45) to £279 ($385.34), and VIP packages cost from an eye-watering £468.85 ($646.50) to £725 ($1,000).

Meanwhile fans waiting in the online queue for tickets to see Harry in New York's Madison Square Gardens were told: 'Tickets for this event have been priced in advance by the tour from $50 to $1,182.40, including service fees.'

In New York, it's also thought the most expensive VIP package is currently priced at $1,667.

In comparison, his 2022 residency at Madison Square Garden ranged in price from $39.50 to $199.50, while his sold-out run at Wembley Stadium in London in 2022 started at only £45 and went up to £99.

The costs have sparked a furious reaction from Harry's fans, with many blasting the star for making music 'inaccessible' for a large portion of his young fanbase.

Oasis faced similar backlash when tickets for their 2025 reunion tour were released with prices rising to £350.

When the eagerly-anticipated tickets dropped, fans were left appalled as £148 standard prices sky-rocketed to more than £350, with many unable to secure a seat at one of the coveted gigs.

The ordeal in fact caused such controversy that it prompted a UK watchdog to investigate the use of dynamic ticket pricing.

Olivia was accepted by the BRIT School, a highly selective but free performing arts school in Croydon, aged 15.

She initially studied musical theatre, but switched to songwriting for her final two years and convinced her mother to buy her a second-hand piano.
