For a few months at the start of 2026, Titanium Court was the year’s worst kept secret. Jury members of the Independent Games Festival couldn’t stop hinting that Consume Me co-developer developer AP Thomson had a very special new game in the works. The lid came off once Titanium Court won the IGF’s coveted Seumas McNally Grand Prize in March and was met with critical buzz when it launched on Windows PC one month later.

Now, more players can see what the hubbub was about this past fall. Titanium Court is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. It’s also available on Android and iOS devices, and that might actually be the best way to play it if you haven’t already. In a lot of ways, Titanium Court is as built for mobile as it is for Windows PC.

Titanium Court is a little hard to explain, and that’s its best quality. It’s a cross between a classic PC adventure game, a match-three puzzler, a roguelike, and a tower defense game. You play as a character who, after getting whisked off to a fantasy world, becomes an ally to a kingdom of faeries at war. To help them ward off their attackers, you need to rearrange battlefields by completing match-three puzzles. Once you’re out of moves, the board locks and you’re thrown into a strategy game where you need to protect your castles while deploying troops to gather resources and attack enemy structures.

As you can imagine, that idea is a perfect fit for mobile devices. Titanium Court’s strength is the way it fuses very different games together, adding a deep strategy element to a casual game premise. It’s a tactical Candy Crush Saga, and I wished I could have swiped to play it back in April to get the full effect. While there are plenty of platforms to play it on right now, I’d recommend a tablet for the ideal experience.

The funny thing about Titanium Court is that everything I’ve described so far barely scratches the surface of Thomson’s absurdist delight. The idea of matching rivers and rocks might seem easy enough, but Thomson is out to confound you by stacking up ridiculous rules. There are jars that are hard to open, egg-shaped “footballs” to move across the battlefield, mysterious road signs to misinterpret, and more. It all comes together to build a game that’s out to lampoon both war and video games in one breath, two things that rely on baffling rulesets.

Like the IGF members who couldn’t keep a secret earlier this year, I’ve spent so much of 2026 blabbing about Titanium Court. It’s a truly inventive game design flex that also dishes out some truly laugh-out-loud comedy. It also makes some bold choices that have made it a little polarizing among my friends — and that’s exactly why I think it’s worth playing. Love it or hate it, Titanium Court is a bold creative swing that rarely does what you’re expecting it to do. Its unpredictable nature makes it one of the most exciting games of 2026. If you’ve yet to try it, now’s your chance before you finalize your Game of the Year shortlist.

Titanium Court is now available on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC.
