PlayStation Free Store Credit Officially Available Until 29 September

It's no secret that PlayStation hasn't been having a very good time recently, particularly after their move away from physical discs and towards a digital future. Public response to that has been very poor, and all of their social media posts continue to draw comments regarding that issue, rather than anything positive they have going on right now.

That said, they are still a console giant and there are plenty out there who only have PlayStations for their current crop of games. Even if they plan to move away in the future, for the time being, it remains the only solution for a large portion of the gaming community. Now there's a new reward scheme available, and it's one you'll want to be aware of if you buy directly from the PlayStation Store.

As first reported by GAMINGbible, the wallet credit scheme which was previously announced back in February has started to show up on a limited selection of games including The Blood of Dawnwalker, Halloween, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Star Wars Zero Company, and others.

This comes after a screenshot taken from Reddit shows the Standard Edition and Eclipse Edition of The Blood of Dawnwalker include text underneath saying, "Includes Wallet Credit Offer ends 9/29/2026 7:59PM"

Sony themselves haven't clarified exactly what the implications of that are, though essentially, it seems as though if you buy either of those versions of the game you will be rewarded with additional wallet credit for the Playstation Store.

There is also anecdotal evidence from other Reddit users, including one who claimed that they ended up with $10 after purchasing both The Blood of Dawnwalker and Dragons Dogma 2.

"I was deciding between Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Blood of Dawnwalker and noticed a special offer with the latter. Has anyone else seen something similar with other games? This makes me think that the PlayStation Stars program is coming back in another shape or form," their post reads. They then went on to say, "Yup. $10 exactly and it showed up immediately after purchase," when asked exactly how much credit they accrued.

We will obviously need to wait for some form of official confirmation from Sony themselves about exactly how this all works, but it seems as though it's designed to incentivize the purchase of new games on the platform, particularly fresh releases that have just debuted onto the store. We will also need clarification on exactly how the wallet credit system works and what percentage of your outlay is returned to you as additional store credit, though we can expect that to come soon if they plan for it to become an ongoing scheme for the PlayStation.
