As the 2004 remakes of the original 1996 Pokémon titles for the first generation of games, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen launched on the Game Boy Advance and became the first remake in the franchise so far.

Taking players to the Kanto Region, the story saw the player, once again, capture and raise Pokémon in order to beat the Elite Four and the Pokémon League Champion, but it also introduced a brand-new area known as the Sevii Islands. With Pokémon Winds & Waves taking us to a brand-new region in 2027 with a huge amount of new Pokémon to meet and train, it's kind of perfect that we got to spend this year back at the beginning.

Pokémon Players Can Claim A Free Celebi Now

Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Battle-2

Upon launch, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen received favorable reviews, and despite being over two decades old, its arrival on the Nintendo Switch back in February made sense, especially as the beloved franchise as a whole is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Now, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen fans who play the hit remake on the Nintendo Switch will be pleased to learn about a free mythical Pokémon that is now available to grab courtesy of Pokémon HOME.

The cloud-based storage service allows players to manage their Switch games, but most importantly, it gives them the ability to transfer their Pokémon across various games. Now, thanks to Ver. 4.1.0. of Pokémon HOME, Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen are now compatible with the service.

That means, by linking the game to your account, you will be able to transfer your 'mons from FireRed and LeafGreen to your Pokémon HOME account, which, as you can probably guess, will allow you to transfer them to other titles in the franchise.

The catch here is that, once you have transferred a Pokémon from Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version to another entry, they will be able to return to the original game. Additionally, 'mons from other entries will not be able to be added to FireRed and LeafGreen.

However, to take the sting out of that slight caveat, there is some good news, as players will now be able to get their hands on a free mythical Pokémon to celebrate Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen's addition to Pokémon HOME.

On the mobile version of Pokémon HOME, players can now grab the Mythical Pokémon Celebi as a thank you for completing the Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version Pokédex. So, obviously, to be eligible, you would have needed to have completed the Pokédex, and have linked your game to your Pokémon HOME account.

If you do not already have a Pokémon HOME account, there has never been a better time, as the recent Ver. 4.1.0 update introduced tons of new features, and most importantly, without increasing the price of the subscription. As well as the Mythical Pokémon freebies, users can now enjoy the ability to deposit up to 9,000 Pokémon as opposed to the previous maximum of 6,000. So, happy hunting!
