Robinhood Chain sees 59% of stock token trading after Wall Street closes

Wall Street goes home at the closing bell. Traders on Robinhood Chain apparently do not.

Data covering September 24 to October 23, 2026 shows that 59% of decentralized exchange volume in Stock Tokens on the network happened outside regular US market hours. That includes $532 million traded on weekends, when the New York Stock Exchange is closed.

The numbers behind the night shift

Across that roughly one-month window, Stock Tokens on Robinhood Chain generated $3.68 billion in trading volume. Weekend activity alone made up 14% of the total.

Stock Tokens are ERC-20 tokens that give holders price exposure to US stocks and ETFs. They live on a blockchain and track the underlying asset.

Secondary trading runs 24/7 on decentralized exchanges, with Uniswap and Rialto among the venues supporting the tokens. Minting and burning, the process of creating new tokens or retiring existing ones, follows a narrower Monday through Saturday schedule.

As of October 12, 2026, cumulative Stock Token trading volume had reached $15 billion. The tokens counted approximately 200,000 holders spread across more than 120 countries.

How Robinhood Chain got here

Robinhood Chain went live on July 1, 2026. It is an Ethereum Layer 2, a separate network that settles back to Ethereum while handling transactions more cheaply and quickly, and it was built with tokenized assets in mind.

One major caveat: Stock Tokens are not available to US residents. The people trading tokenized US equities around the clock are, by design, outside the US.

That detail reframes the after-hours numbers. For a trader in Asia or parts of Europe, regular US market hours can fall in the middle of the night or deep into the evening. A 24/7 venue does not just extend the trading day for these users. It moves the market onto their clock.

What this means for traders and brokerages

Nearly six out of every ten dollars traded moved when the traditional market was closed.

Because minting and burning only operate Monday through Saturday, weekend trading relies entirely on tokens already in circulation. When the underlying stock market is shut and new supply cannot be created on Sundays, token prices could drift from where the underlying shares eventually reopen.
