Samantha Busch Celebrates Son's First Race Win Since Kyle Busch Death
Kyle Busch's Wife Shares What Father's Day Would Have Looked Like One Month After His Death
Samantha Busch is celebrating her family’s wins.
Months after Kyle Busch’s unexpected death, his wife shared that their 11-year-old son Brexton is still following in his dad’s legendary footsteps as he won his first racecar competition since the tragedy.
“This is his first win since Kyle’s passing,” Samantha wrote on her Instagram Stories July 18 alongside a snap of Brexton standing on a car as he soaks in his victory. “There was a lot of emotions to say the very least.”
Brexton won in the restricted micro sprint class event at Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway dirt track on July 17. And while Samantha—who also shared 4-year-old daughter Lennix with Kyle—is proud of her little guy’s triumph, she admitted the accomplishment was bittersweet.
“Beyond proud of him not just for winning but all that he’s navigating at a young age,” the 40-year-old added, “beyond shattered Kyle isn’t here to be a part of this, beyond grateful for all the support and amazing people we have around us.”
“Watching him celebrate all I could think about was Kyle,” she continued in a July 18 Instagram post. “There was nothing that made him happier than watching Brex race, spending the day tinkering on his car and then being the first one sprinting to Victory Lane with that huge grin on his face.”
And Brexton also touched on what the victory meant to him.

“My first win since my dad passed. I don’t like to talk about it much, but the last two months have been really tough,” he wrote on Instagram following his victory. “I’m missing my crew cheif, my driver coach, my dad, the guy who I looked up to more [than] anyone.”
Kyle died on May 21 from severe pneumonia, which progressed into sepsis. He was 41.
In the wake of his passing, Samantha has been open about her family’s grief during what she described as “the most heartbreaking days of our lives.”

"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain," she shared in a June 5 Instagram post. "Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people.”
“There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry,” she added, “yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone."
