'Snaf's Recipe' quest walkthrough in Gothic 1 Remake

The "Snaf's Recipe" quest in Gothic 1 Remake requires only two ingredients, but without quest markers, they're pretty hard to find. Not to worry, though, as meatbugs and hellcaps aren't exactly scarce once you know where to look. In fact, "Snaf's Recipe" is an excellent quest to start your adventure with, as it doesn't require combat or special skills.

How to obtain 'Snaf's Recipe' in Gothic 1 Remake

To obtain the "Snaf's Recipe" quest, enter the Old Camp through the north gate (the entrance behind the stone bridge, closest to where you started the game) and turn left. Eventually, you'll see Snaf on the right side, using the cooking pot. If he's not there, he's probably inside his hut, next to the pot.

To get the quest, simply greet Snaf and ask if you can do something for him. Snaf will tell you about his new recipe and ask you to find the missing ingredients: three bugmeats and five hellcaps.

Where to find bugmeats and hellcaps in Gothic 1 Remake

To find the three bugmeats, you must kill three meatbugs (yes, meatbugs drop bugmeat). Starting from Snaf's location, follow the path to the left, circling the Old Camp's castle in a clockwise direction. Shortly after passing the fighting arena, you'll see a wall with a ladder on your left. The three meat bugs are crawling across the road; simply step on them to kill them and collect their meat.

If you need more meatbugs, look for damp and dark places, such as caves. There are two just south of the Exchange Place, two behind Cavalorn's hut (west of Old Camp), and another on the road to New Camp.

To find the five hellcaps, exit the Old Camp to the north and cross the stone bridge. Take the path ahead, leading into the forest.

Proceed carefully and don't stray from the road if you don't wish to alert scavengers. Just in front of the first large rock formation, on the left side of the road, you'll find a ring of five hellcaps at the foot of a tree. There are more hellcaps deeper in the forest, but this is the best location to obtain all five at once.

Return to Snaf and give him the three bugmeats and five hellcaps to complete "Snaf's Recipe." You'll receive 100 experience, one meatbug ragout, and the recipe to make meatbug ragout yourself. From now on, Snaf will give you one free meatbug ragout per day if you come to visit him.
