Steam Makes 10/10 Open-World Masterpiece Completely Free Until September 21

The weekend is almost here once again, and after a long and arduous week, what better way to relax than by jumping into a highly rated game without having to spend a single penny?

Well, that is now possible for Steam users, as the PC storefront has made one of the most successful games of all time, completely free to download until 21 September, with absolutely no catch.

The game in question is none other than Sea of Thieves: 2026 Edition. First released back in 2020, the smash-hit pirate adventure game offers the quintessential pirate experience, tasking players with plundering lost treasures, partaking in intense naval battles, vanquishing sea monsters and more. Best yet, it can be enjoyed with friends.

The original game, Sea of Thieves, launched back in 2018, and since then, it has become one of the most successful multiplayer games of all time. However, that was not always the case. As one of the earliest first-party games to launch for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, initial reviews were mixed, with complaints over its progression and lack of content.

However, over the past few years, its developers, Rare, have put the work in, offering countless updates and content drops, and now, with the game being available on multiple platforms, its popularity has only grown.

So much so, that in June 2026, it was announced that a Sea of Thieves live-action movie was reportedly in development with Destin Daniel Cretton producing. It remains to be seen if this ever comes to fruition, but it is an exciting prospect nonetheless.
