The Chainsmokers concert descends into chaos as 14 people are rushed to hospital during San Jose show

A concert put on by The Chainsmokers descended into chaos as 14 people were transported to the hospital during a San Jose, California show on Friday. 

The electronic duo, which consists of Drew Taggart and Alex Pall, had taken to the stage at the outdoor venue called Discovery Meadow when the fire department arrived to the scene a little over three hours after the performance kicked off. 

The San Jose Fire Department shared on X that it responded to 'multiple patients requiring medical attention' at 8:22pm. 

'SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,' a separate post read. 

'A total of 14 ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.' 

The fire department also aided with traffic control around the outdoor venue, with resources going back 'to service at approximately 10:34p.m.'   

The police department told NBC Bay Area that patients were taken to the hospital over medical concerns including 'suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.' 

10 of the individuals were transported to the hospital amid the last 30 minutes of the concert, police told ABC 7. 

In footage shared by the publication, a line of ambulances and firetrucks could be seen parked along the streets near the concert. 

The San Jose show began at Discovery Meadow at 5pm, with The Chainsmokers also performing the following day on Saturday at the Encore Beach Club located at the Wynn in Las Vegas. 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for The Chainsmokers as well as the San Jose Fire Department for comment, but has yet to hear back. 

The electronic DJ and production duo are set to hit the stage once again in Las Vegas at the Wynn on September 19 and September 25. 

Later this year, the pair are slated to travel for a three-day tour in India beginning in Mumbai on December 18. 

Taggart and Pall will then venture to Delhi on December 19 and then a final stop in Bengaluru on December 20. 

The Chainsmokers have been keeping busy this year aside from taking to the stage, and recently dropped a new German single titled Inundauswendig. 

The track is in collaboration with German rapper Makko. 

Earlier this year in May, the duo also released an EP titled Love Is Kind in collaboration with Oaks. 

The EP contains a total of five tracks including Already Know, Echo and Five Past Three. 

'A few months ago we made Echo, then we made another song, and another and another,' the duo penned on Instagram in April while announcing the EP to fans. 

'I can't remember the last time we had a creative flow like this. Tbh this followed a period of feeling really stuck in the studio. Maybe we had too many ideas about what 2026 could sound like for us.' 

As some of their past hits such as Roses reached new audiences in 2026, Taggart and Pall admitted to being left in a 'weird place creatively.' 

'It made us think a lot about the magic in that era and what was making people connect with it again.'

They added, 'We are still working on the answer to that question and I think we are getting close. Making this EP helped a lot...' 

The Chainsmokers began to gain recognition following the release of their 2014 track #Selfie. 

In the following years, the pair reached further success in the music industry after dropping Roses, Don't Let Me Down and Closer featuring Halsey. 

In 2017, The Chainsmokers released more singles such as Paris and Something Just Like This. 

Their last LP was released in 2023 and called Summertime Friends. 

The electronic duo, which was formed back in 2012, has raked in a number of accolades over the years. 

Taggart and Pall have received one Grammy, seven Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards and nine iHeartRadio Music Awards.
