The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has shot for the stars and landed among them with its latest box office milestone.

Per Deadline, as of Sunday morning, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has officially passed the $1 billion milestone worldwide, during its tenth weekend in theaters. This officially makes it the first billion-dollar movie of 2026. The movie's massive gross has pushed the two-film Illumination franchise to a cumulative worldwide gross of $2.3 billion, allowing it to oust Madagascar ($2.26 billion across four theatrical movies) as the ninth highest-grossing animated franchise of all time.
