The All Her Fault team is getting back together for another limited series.
Per Deadline, Peacock has ordered a new series called The Break-In from the same creative team behind All Her Fault, including Megan Gallagaher writing and executive producing and Carnival Films producing. The limited series, which is another female-driven mystery, will adapt the events of Katherine Faulkner's 2025 book of the same name. The synopsis for the novel is included below:
In the aftermath of a devastating home invasion, Alice Rathbone refuses to accept that the tragic event was simply random. Desperate for answers, Alice starts pulling at threads and soon finds a trail of dark secrets that spiral closer to home than she could ever have imagined.
There's no word yet on casting for the series, but audiences shouldn't expect to see Snook, Fanning, and Peña return. The Break-In, after all, is connected to All Her Fault mostly through Gallagher's involvement. Of the new collaboration with Gallagher for The Break-In, Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBC & Peacock, shared the following statement:
“After the breakout success of All Her Fault, we knew we wanted to continue building on that creative momentum with Megan Gallagher and Carnival Films. The Break-In is exactly the kind of sophisticated, character-driven mystery our audiences are responding to right now – stories that tap into the zeitgeist by exploring the tension between perception and reality. Katherine Faulkner’s story is a compelling, addictive ride and a great example of the premium storytelling we’re continuing to build at Peacock.”
While the stories and characters for the two shows will be very different, Gallagher's involvement suggests Peacock could have another hit on its hands. All Her Fault was a major viewership success, becoming the streamer's biggest viewership success of all time with 45 million views amassed over the course of its first four weeks of availability.
In addition to strong viewership, All Her Fault reviews were also generally positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series enjoys a respectable score of 79%, with the Popcornmeter coming in a little lower at 74%. The limited series was also nominated for awards at the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice Awards, and The Actor Awards.
The huge success of All Her Fault raised questions about a potential season 2. The show adapts the entirety of Faulkner's novel and was billed as a limited series, but there was buzz earlier this year that Gallagher was working on a follow-up season that took the same approach as something like HBO's The White Lotus.
It seems like those rumors were partially correct. The Break-In is clearly being positioned as a spiritual successor, of sorts, with Gallagher's involvement and the book's female-led mystery story sure to appeal to the same audience.
The Break-In comes with some strong critical praise of its own. The book has positive reviews across sites like Goodreads, Amazon, Indigo, and Barnes and Noble, as well as from popular authors like Nita Prose, Ellery Lloyd, Andrea Mara, and Olivia Kiernan.
It remains to be seen whether The Break-In will repeat the success of All Her Fault, but Gallagher's involvement is a promising sign. There's no word yet on when the new limited series will hit Peacock, but a 2027 bow isn't out of the question.
