Timothy Olyphant’s Record-Breaking New Bestseller Adaptation Secures Vital Streaming Milestone Ahead Of Season 2 Return

The former Justified lead has had a very busy couple of years, particularly on the small screen, with 2025 alone featuring him in four different TV shows, including the acclaimed Alien: Earth, which is in the midst of filming season 2 now, and the Owen Wilson-led Apple TV comedy Stick, which is set to return with season 2 on November 4. Similarly, this year has already brought four different outings for Olyphant, one of which became an instant record-breaking hit and refuses to slow down on streaming.

Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand's 2023 novel of the same name, The Five-Star Weekend is primarily led by Jennifer Garner as Hollis, a food influencer who gathers friends from differing chapters in her life for a Nantucket getaway following the sudden death of her husband. Olyphant co-starred in the Peacock dramedy as Jack, Hollis' first boyfriend with whom she reconnects, albeit to a troubled response from her college-age daughter, Harlow Jane's Caroline.

Also starring Gemma Chan, D'Arcy Carden, Regina Hall and Chloë Sevigny, The Five-Star Weekend found itself a surprise breakout smash upon its July 9 premiere, scoring rave reviews from critics for its mixture of emotional character arcs and comfort-viewing charms, netting a record for Hilderbrand's works on Rotten Tomatoes with its 92% "Certified Fresh" score. With it also amassing a large viewership in just its first few weeks, the series was greenlit for a second season, with Garner, Carden, Hall, Sevigny, Olyphant and Jane all in various talks to return.

The Five-Star Weekend Has Taken Its Streaming Success To Amazon

Some two months after the show's premiere, The Five-Star Weekend has just secured a vital new streaming milestone on Amazon's Top 25 TV Shows on the VOD platform. At the time of writing, per FlixPatrol, the dramedy is not only in the No. 10 position on the platform, but has also surpassed one full month in the Top 25 chart, a meaningful progression for the series on a new streaming home.

In addition to giving it a new overall milestone on another platform, this continues The Five-Star Weekend's record-breaking run on streaming, having already become Peacock's No. 1 scripted series of all time with garnering over 1 billion minutes viewed just one week after its premiere. By the time the show's season 2 renewal had come about in early August, the series had doubled that number, with its newfound Amazon success showcasing the sheer reach the Peacock title has found.

With the show's streaming success still ongoing while season 2's development quietly forges ahead, now is the perfect time to refresh on where The Five-Star Weekend left its characters in its ending. After the emotional get-together, in which Gemma Chan's Gigi was revealed to have been in an affair with Hollis' late husband, the two still found a way to forgive one another. Meanwhile, Sevigny's Tatum got confirmation her lump wasn't cancerous, but was still optimistic about the abnormal cells found there, Carden's Brooke left her husband and began embracing her latent feelings of being gay, and Hall's Dru-Ann launches her own talent agency.

As for Hollis herself, The Five-Star Weekend season 1 not only saw her and Tatum finally reconnecting, but also teased the former and Olyphant's Jack rekindling their prior relationship into something new for season 2, with Hilderbrand confirming the intent is to bring him back. While it's unclear what the actual timeline looks like for the show's return, with so much story still left to tell in the various characters' lives, it will be interesting to see how many further viewers the dramedy will hook, and just how high its streaming success will climb.
