When you first start out in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you'll have the day to complete quests before mass. The only problem is there are so many quests, and so little time. To make things worse, the main quest will eat up one of the time segments, leaving you with only seven.

Choosing what activity to do can be overwhelming as you might be afraid of missing out on something important, so to alleviate some of that pressure, we've listed all the quests that you can complete before mass in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and which quests we recommend completing.

[Ed. note: This guide contains spoilers for The Blood of Dawnwalker, so continue at your own risk! Feel free to follow along or bookmark this page and come back if you get stuck.]

Every quest you can complete before mass in The Blood of Dawnwalker

There are 13 quests that you can complete before mass in The Blood of Dawnwalker. However, you won't have enough time to complete all of them. You'll have eight "hours" or time segments (seven if you include the hour it takes to complete "Withering Away") to complete as many quests or activities as you'd like, but some quests will use up more time than others.

We've marked the starting location of each quest on the map below, and listed every quest along with how much time they take to complete.

Which quests or activities should you complete before mass in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

Before you start any quests, it's important to note that you're free to choose any quest you'd like in the prologue. No matter what decision you choose here, you will not be locked out of anything later on in the game. There may be small differences depending on your choices, but nothing game breaking. However, there are some quests that force you to make tough decisions, while other quests better demonstrate the game's mechanics. Of course, all of these quests will give you a reward in the form of experience and equipment, but as this is just the beginning of The Blood of Dawnwalker, many of the rewards will quickly be replaced as you explore the map.

Below, we've listed some of the best quests to complete before mass in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

'Blasphemy'

"Blasphemy" will require you to make one of your first difficult choices in all of The Blood of Dawnwalker, while also explaining how to use some of the game's core mechanics, like Focus. During "Blasphemy," you need to find out who stole the missing banner from Gremla's house. As you find the culprit, you'll start questioning your own motives and really wonder how you want your version of Coen to be. Your decisions in this quest will have a big effect on the events that follow in the prologue, even if you decide not to complete the quest.

'Deep Down'

"Deep Down" is a quest where you're searching for Lazar, a missing person from Laslea. "Deep Down" is one of the first demonstrations of a time-sensitive quest, as the quest itself will change depending on what time you partake in it. Additionally, you'll learn a bit more about how a historic figure dealt with the Vrakhiri, and gain some loot along the way. This quest will also test your combat capabilities, as you'll face off against a mini-boss at the end.

'Page-Turner'

"Page-Turner" is your chance to learn more about Anca, one of the protagonists of The Blood of Dawnwalker and a potential love interest for Coen. Although "Page-Turner" can take up the most time out of all the prologue quests, it's a great opportunity to spend some time with Anca and discover some of her secrets.

'On the Run'

In "On the Run," Iorgu has lost their pig and needs help getting it back. You'll need to use Focus again to track them down, and bring them back home. However, this quest will force you to make a tough decision immediately after.

'Disturbed'

During "Disturbed," you must help Crina find who dug up her late son's grave. As you find the grave robber and discover why they did it, you're put into yet another conundrum. As you try to figure out the "correct" set of actions, you're left racking your brain on who to side with, and if Crina's son's items should be returned.

Any quest that doesn't use time

There are a few quests that don't use any time at all, so these quests will just give you free experience and rewards. Time is a valuable resource, so if a quest or an activity doesn't use up any time, you should check them out!

Do not start a quest with one time segment left

Many of the quests in the prologue will use an hour of your time at the beginning or in the middle of the quest. If this happens and there's another objective afterward, your progress may be interrupted and you won't be able to finish the quest. Instead, you'll "fail" the quest and you won't get any of the rewards.

Rather than starting a quest, we recommend leveling up a skill that requires one time segment. Sustained Focus is a great choice, as there are many skills that require two activation charges. Leveling up Sustained Focus now will save you precious time in the future.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a time-sensitive, narrative RPG where your actions and decisions matter. If you're just starting out, check out our beginner's guide. After the prologue, you're free to explore Vale Sangora and take on Brencis' boyars however you please, but the freedom can be a bit overwhelming. To help, here's what we recommend doing after the prologue.
