Critical Role Campaign 4 return date announced
It's only been a few short weeks since Critical Role took a break from Campaign 4, but we're already missing the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers tables. Fortunately, fans have plenty of material to enjoy, as the premiere episode of Critical Role's new miniseries, Age of Umbra: Sallowlands, aired on July 9.
But if you're eager for the return of the Game of Thrones-like world of Aramán, masterfully created by Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan, you're in luck: You won’t have to wait much longer. Critical Role's Campaign 4 is set to return on Aug. 27.
The news comes from photos taken at Critical Role's Berlin live actual-play show, Projekt Funball. These images were later shared on social media, such as Reddit and Tumblr. The image features Critical Role's logo over what appears to be the back room of a theater, with "Campaign 4 returns August 27th" to the side of the logo, and a list of every platform (Beacon, YouTube, and Twitch) where Critters will be able to watch.
When we last left off, the final arc of Campaign 4 featured several epic reveals, such as Thjazi Fang's grand plan for the Hallowed Round being to transform it into a place where a bridge could be built to the orcish afterlife in the Dying Fields. Additionally, Mara the Wing revealed that The Cloak's goal was to restore the bridge to the other afterlives, which had been lost after the end of the Shaper's War.
With the 13-player cast pursuing separate goals, they have split into three tables once more. Thaisha is to head to Dol-Rungja to visit her grandmother; Hal, Murray, Azune, Wick, and Tyranny are staying behind in Dol-Makjar to deal with the political unrest there, and Occtis, Julien, Vaelus, Thimble, Bolaire, and Kattigan are traveling to the Golden Orchard to meet up with Mara the Wing and her contact there. A lot is happening, and we can't wait to get back into the nitty-gritty to see what Mulligan has up his sleeve for Campaign 4's second arc.
Image: Critical RoleWhile there are still several weeks until Critters return to Aramán, there is a positive to the long wait: Critters have plenty of time to rewatch (or catch up) before the epic fantasy series returns.
In the meantime, though, Critical Role's Daggerheart miniseries Sallowlands will keep you plenty entertained — particularly if you have a fondness for the grim and gruesome.
