Cyberpunk 2077 is years away from its launch, but in some ways, it's sailing full speed ahead. Following the release of the major Phantom Liberty DLC, CD Projekt Red has been adding more content to the game through updates, and it has now hit a major milestone.

If you haven't played Cyberpunk 2077 in a while, now might be a good time. As evidenced by the PlayStation Blog, the game just got a major update that adds three brand-new modes.

Cyberpunk 2077 Just Got Three New Modes

You Can Play Them Now On PS5 Pro

As of this week, Cyberpunk 2077 now has a PlayStation 5 Pro patch that enables three new graphical modes. Here are the three new Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro modes, in detail:

  • Ray Tracing Pro - All Ray Tracing elements are on, creating the "most visually advanced version" of the game on PS5 Pro. It aims for 40 frames per second on variable-refresh-rate-enabled displays.
  • Ray Tracing mode - "The sweet spot" between visuals and performance, with "select" Ray Tracing enhancements at 60 FPS
  • Performance - 90 frames per second with "high image fidelity," on the highest possible framerate.

In other words, PS5 Pro owners are getting new quality, balanced, and performance modes specifically for updated hardware. While the balanced mode seems ideal for many players (especially since it targets 60 FPS), PS5 Pro owners at least have more options now.

There Is More To Come

Right now, Sony is prepping for more PlayStation 5 Pro updates, which should yield better performance out of the console. In the meantime, more developers will likely release patches for major AAA games, akin to a free Switch 2 update.

Fans have been loving it so far, with commenters posting messages like: "First and foremost – Thank you for this update. It was probably extra work that could had went somewhere else but nonetheless, once again- thank you Now it’s time for a third playthrough." Others are hoping for "another final update" that adds PlayStation VR 2 support, but that seems unlikely.

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be done with major updates for now, as CD Projekt Red is likely working heavily on The Witcher 4 and the sequel to 2077. But we've heard that tune before, and still ended up with a PlayStation 5 Pro update.
