Elden Ring Fans Losing It Over New Expansion Tease

There's no doubt that FromSoftware have been one of the most consistent developers in the industry over the last two decades or so, with almost everything they release earning a place in fans' hearts. That said, Elden Ring really did feel like a bit of a magnum opus for them, a game with ambition far beyond anything we had seen up to that point.

As you might expect, that also made it a huge commercial success, and it was soon confirmed that we were going to be getting some DLC in the form of Shadow of the Erdtree (which was also great). Since then, things have been fairly quiet on the Elden Ring front, but a recent post has fans convinced that more DLC could be on the way soon.

Over on Twitter/X, the official Elden Ring page shared a gameplay video with the caption, "Even the perilous hunt for the demigods holds moments of quiet wonder." The clip is unremarkable in and of itself, but it has turned out to be more than enough to get some thinking that they could be cryptically hinting at future DLC.

"I passed on Nightreign. I'll probably pass on Duskbloods. New Elden Ring DLC would explain the delay of Duskbloods & be absolutely God-tier amazing. I need new 1-player Fromsoft content please & thanks, or the rumored Dark Souls 3 remaster even though it doesn't need it," one response read.

"Please release new story DLC or Elden Ring 2… give me a reason to go back to Elden Ring!" another added.

A third was a little more realistic, saying, "We are so starved for content this 11-second clip of a base game area has torn the fandom to pieces."

Without wishing to dampen any excitement that you might be feeling right now, the unfortunate reality is that the video has more than likely been shared to start building hype for the upcoming Tarnished Edition of the game. That's set to launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, so it's certainly time to start ramping up the marketing.

Those who want to play this new Elden Ring release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC won't be able to buy the Tarnished Edition of the game as a standalone release, with FromSoftware instead allowing players to purchase a Tarnished Pack, which adds the new content to the base game.
