There's so much going on around The Legend of Zelda right now that it really has become quite difficult to keep up. The beloved series is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and as you might expect as a fan, there are a ton of releases coming out that all help to mark the occasion in the way that it deserves.
The Ocarina of Time remake is set to launch later this year, on an as-yet unannounced date, and the movie adaptation's production is going smoothly by all accounts, with it releasing in 2027. There's plenty more besides those two heavy hitters, though, and a new release aims to remember where we have just been, before we find out where we're going next.
As reported by CBR, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Secrets of the Zonai is a impressive upcoming collection featuring brand-new artwork inspired by Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Though it seems like the community is ready to move on from that particular era now, it's worth appreciating just how pretty it was to look at.
Releasing in October, the book is all about giving players a deeper look into the art processes that went into building both games. It includes hundreds of sketches, technical drawings, and notes, which track the journey from the initial conception period to the final product we all know and love.
In sharing what fans can expect, Nintendo confirmed the following details about the product:
"Start your journey with Secrets of the Zonai. Pore over 50 pages of beautiful illustrations, character art, and promotional images. Then, dive into nearly 300 pages of behind-the-scenes sketches, notes, rough designs, concept art, and recollections that provide an exclusive look at the development and creation of the game.
"Next, travel back to a time before the founding of the Kingdom of Hyrule, with over 80 pages of Hyrule’s history that include insights into the mysterious past of the Zonai all the way up to the events of the game. Finish your quest with interviews with the legends behind this most recent entry of The Legend of Zelda: Producer Eiji Aonuma, Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and Art Director Satoru Takizawa!"
NintendoThe standard edition of Secrets of the Zonai is set to retail for $59.99, but you can also grab the Hero's Edition (which includes a nice green slipcase, a map of the Depths printed on cloth, an art print of Link and the Sages, and a replica of the Secret Stone of Time. It's going to be one of the bigger physical releases for Zelda this year, so if you do want to celebrate, this looks like a nice way to do so.
