Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi flee to Mallorca for luxury yacht escape amid rumored feud with Cotswolds neighbors

Ellen DeGeneres and partner Portia de Rossi were seen whisking themselves away for a Mallorca trip this week. 

The 68-year-old TV personality, who is rumored to be in a rift with a few of her Cotswolds neighbors, enjoyed a luxury yacht escape off the coast of Spain on Friday alongside de Rossi. 

The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, relocated to the U.K. after Donald Trump won the presidential election in 2024. But late last year, the pair also quietly purchased a $27 million mansion in Montecito, California. 

Before jumping onto the spacious boat, the former talk show host strolled underneath the warm sunshine. 

DeGeneres kept it casual wearing a dark navy shirt as well as a pair of white trousers and shoes. 

The star easily carried a dark brown bag in her hand and sported a pair of stylish black shades. 

De Rossi was dressed for the daytime outing in a plain white top as well as fashionable tan trousers and comfy sandals. 

She carried a small tan purse over her right shoulder and accessorized the outfit with a long necklace and brown-rimmed sunglasses. 

The pair were spotted making their way to an awaiting yacht and later relaxed in a seating area on a deck. 

DeGeneres has offered glimpses into her life after leaving the U.S. after Trump's re-election as 47th president in November 2024. 

Both she and de Rossi originally moved into an $18 million house in the Cotswolds area, but the six-bedroom home was met with severe flooding due to Storm Bert.

An insider previously informed the Daily Mail, 'Ellen and Portia have had several issues with the place they initially moved into.

'First there was the flooding, of course, then there was an issue with some locals complaining about some building work carried out at the property.'

DeGeneres and de Rossi then moved to a different property which is only a 30 minute drive from the original home that they had bought. 

However, an insider told The Mail on Sunday late last year that there is a possibility the couple could move back to the U.S., despite Trump still being in office. 

And it was later revealed that DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased a $27 million Montecito property last year in November. 

Back in February, the couple were spotted at the residence for the first time as they filmed themselves in the backyard of the mansion. 

However, a separate source claimed to Us Weekly that DeGeneres and de Rossi don't have plans to permanently move back to the U.S. 

'They are still planning to live full-time in the UK but will spend a few months of the year in Montecito,' the insider told the outlet.

DeGeneres has previously opened up about her move to the English countryside with wife de Rossi, per the BBC.

When questioned by journalist Richard Bacon if relocating to the U.K. was because of Trump being re-elected, the comedian simply replied with, 'Yes.'

At the time of the election in November 2024, the couple had only been visiting the U.K.

'We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, "He got in." And we're like, "We're staying here."'

In regards to her life in the countryside, the star gushed that it was 'beautiful' and different from the California desert landscape.

But earlier this month, rumors of a rift between DeGeneres, de Rossi and their Cotswolds neighbor Jeremy Clarkson resurfaced. 

In November 2024, a video taken by Clarkson's partner Lisa went viral which showed the two stars at his pub called the Farmer's Dog around the time of its opening. 

However, footage of DeGeneres and de Rossi at the pub was not included in the series Clarkson's Farm. The fifth season focuses on Clarkson officially opening the doors to Farmer's Dog. 

Back in 2025, the Daily Mail reported that Lisa taking the viral video may have caused a rift with DeGeneres and de Rossi. 

A source claimed that media interest surrounding the Hollywood pair in the Cotswolds started after they appeared in the clip. 

'The interest around them was frenzied. The moment it was realized they had moved in near the Farmer's Dog, there were paparazzi photographers swarming everywhere for weeks on end.'

The insider added, 'This didn't enamor Ellen and Portia with the area and was in some part why they eventually moved away.'

The video was later deleted from Instagram and the couple began to spend time at another pub called The Three Horseshoes. 

There were other reports that the refilling of the former talk show host's swimming pool at her Cotswolds home caused the water to dry up on day two of Clarkson's pub opening. 

However, he denied that there was any feud with the two stars. 

Back in 2020, DeGeneres was embroiled in controversy after being accused of creating a toxic work environment, and later issued an apology.

After nearly two decades of being on the air, The Ellen DeGeneres Show also came to an end just two years later in 2022.

She previously told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I have to just trust that whatever happened during that time, which was obviously very, very difficult, happened for a reason.

'I think that I learned a lot, and there were some things that came up that I was shocked and surprised by. It was eye-opening, but I just trust that that had to happen.'

She stepped in front of the camera once again for her 2024 Netflix special titled Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.

However upon its release, the project garnered mainly mixed to negative reviews and garnered a score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Back in April, it was revealed that DeGeneres has landed her Hollywood comeback role and is set to reprise her role as Dory in an upcoming short film. 

She previously voiced the character in Disney's Finding Nemo (2003) as well as Finding Dory (2016).
