Emilia Fox's colourful love life: From an on-off romance with fiery TV chef Marco Pierre White to her fleeting engagement to Vic Reeves as star says she's ready to date again after split from ex Jonathan Stadlen

She's one of Britain's biggest TV actresses. However, as well as an expansive and exciting career, Emilia Fox also boasts a rather colourful love life.

The Silent Witness star, 52, revealed this week that she is ready to start dating again after she quietly separated from her ex Jonathan Stadlen in 2025 after four years together.

Opening up about embracing single life, the star said she is open to using dating apps but hasn't been on them in the last few years.

Emilia has been in the showbiz limelight since she was 25 years old and over the years she has enjoyed relationships with beloved comedian Vic Reeves, British actor Jared Harris and even top TV chef Marco Pierre White.

Married once and engaged three times, Emilia shares one daughter, Rose, 15, with her ex Jeremy Gilley.

Her most recent partner Jonathan 'proposed every day' to the star, however they never made it down the aisle before going through a difficult split in 2025.

Emilia's first high profile relationship was with British comedian Vic Reeves after the pair met while filming Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) together.

While not much is known publicly about their romance, the pair were even engaged for a period in 2000 before later calling it quits.

Following Vic, Emilia embarked on another work romance with actor Jared Harris – but this time it was much more successful and the couple tied the knot in 2005.

The pair met  while working on a West End production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 2003 before marrying in July 2005.

However, the pair announced their split in 2008 and Jared filed for divorce a year later.

Emilia went on to reveal the pair had experienced a miscarriage together before distance went

Speaking about the breakdown of the marriage to the Daily Mail in 2009, Emilia said: 'I had a miscarriage two years ago and we didn't explore enough the impact that had on both of us and on our relationship.

'I was starting another series of Silent Witness and Jared had to go off to the US. Both of us regretted it in the end.

'We weren't happy and I couldn't see my way through the unhappiness to get to the happiness again.

'I know people would say you work through the ups and downs of marriage – and that is true. I really believe in that and I tried, of course.

'We had been immensely happy, so the unhappiness was measured against this incredible time together.

'Maybe it was because of having had the miscarriage, which really hit me a year later.

Following her split from Jared, the star began dating filmmaker Jeremy Gilley. The pair welcomed a daughter, Rose, in November 2010 before splitting in 2011 (pictured in 2009)

'I think it was my fault that I didn't explore the emotional side. I thought it was like a horrible illness that you get over. I was working and I concentrated all my focus on that.'

At the time, Emilia admitted to The Sun that she was excited for her next chapter as she told the publication: 'It's fun dating again and finding someone who you really enjoy being with.

'I love romance. I'm a great believer in second, third - even fourth chances at love.'

After her split from Jeremy, Emilia embarked on an on-off relationship with none other than top TV chef Marco Pierre White.

Emilia first fell for Marco, who was 13 years her senior in 2012, and the couple had a tumultuous relationship which ended in 2016.

In 2017, when promoting her new Sky One drama Delicious, which saw Emilia's character caught in a love triangle with a fiery restaurateur, the star alluded to her relationship with Marco, telling The Mail On Sunday: 'How amazing that I can understand someone who has a great love of food and life.'

Even after their split the pair remained close. 'He's a good man and a kind person, it's a thrill to have him in my life,' she told You Magazine in 2019.

Confirming that things had ended romantically she said: 'It is literally just a friendship. When you have been involved with each other's families, particularly with children, it's important that you don't just wave goodbye.'

'There is a closeness in that way. We check in on each other and make sure we are all right and catch up. We talk. A lot.'

Two years after their split, Emilia was seen out and about with another millionaire – talent agent Luc Chaudhary after they met on celebrity dating app Raya.

After the pair were first pictured hand in hand in June 2019, things soon picked up and by the December of the same year there were rumours that the pair were engaged.

A source told The Sun: 'Emilia and Luc are hopelessly in love. They're both parents and looking forward to blending their families into one. They're desperate to start a family of their own too, but only once they are married.'

But the couple never made it down the aisle and in October 2020 Emilia confirmed they had split earlier that year.

Taking to Twitter she shared: ''5 months ago, Luc and I decided to part ways. It was done amicably, respectfully and with great consideration to our children. We still both care immensely about each other's kids and about each other.'

Moving on from Luc, the star began dating TV producer Jonathan Stadlen after the pair were first spotted together in 2021.

One friend told The Mail on Sunday: 'Both Jonathan and Emilia are totally besotted, they might have only been together for a few months but they are very happy.

'Jonathan has been excitedly telling his friends about his new girlfriend. It is all very sweet.'

After they were introduced the pair quickly fell head over heels for each other in just three weeks.

'We both knew something had changed from that moment on,' Emilia told Weekend Magazine in 2022.

However their fairy tale love story ended in 2025 as Emilia revealed: 'It’s really sad when relationships finish, and particularly one for which we both had lots of hope'

'It's something you could only hope would happen. I did hope. Of course I hoped. But you don't know. And yet it is real. It's this!

'It makes the very ordinary bits of life feel like the most extraordinary. I'm the luckiest girl in the whole world. He is an incredible man.'

Almost two years later in 2024, Emilia confessed that Jonathan frequently proposes to her but she was yet to say yes.

She told Woman&Home magazine: 'Jonathan asks me to marry him every single day but we're not officially married.

'Just saying we love each other each day has been enough for us in this moment. It has felt very romantic because there's a choice every day to go, 'Yes, I really want to marry you today'.

She added: 'He asks me in all different places and at different times. Sometimes when we wake up, sometimes it's at lunchtime, sometimes on bended knee!

'I'm a great believer in marriage and a diehard romantic but I don't know whether we need to have a ceremonial marriage or what that looks like for our family. The children are the greatest consideration.'

Emilia admitted they 'work hard' to make their relationship thrive.

She explained: 'When you reach a certain age and have experiences – I've been living my own way with Rose for a long time – you have to keep working on communication and working out what we're bringing to this relationship in our histories.

'The good things but also the bad things and how to work that out together. It's very exposing being in love, in a relationship and seeing whether each other can accept the whole of you.

'Rose and I have been in a cocoon of togetherness, which is opening up. Rose has her dad to be her dad but Jonathan's amazing with her – kind, loving and thoughtful.'

However their fairy tale love story ended in 2025 with Emilia keeping their split a secret for a year.

She told Weekend Magazine in January: 'It’s been a year of change. At the beginning of 2025 we separated.

'It’s really sad when relationships finish, and particularly one for which we both had lots of hope.

'The end of a relationship, no matter why it happens, or even if it happens in the best way… well, you’ve thought your life was going to be one thing, and then it’s something else. How you cope is about the attitude you take.'

She added: 'You can see life’s dents as harmful, or choose to think they make us who we are.

'So my attitude is that I take all the good things that happened – I have nothing but lovely things to say about Jonathan, and I feel lucky to have been on that path with him – and accept it’s time to look to a different future.

'I think with relationships, the older you get the more experiences you have, the more you appreciate things, and I appreciate what we had together.

'The ending doesn’t take away from how lovely it was. Since we parted, I’ve put into practice all the things I know make me feel better, and that’s helped me reach a more positive place.'

And now Emilia has revealed she is ready to date again, almost two years after the split.

The actress told Hello!: 'I've been preoccupied with all the other things in life, so I've neglected that side of my life a bit, but that hasn't been at the cost of my happiness.

'I wanted to process the last relationship I was in, which was a meaningful relationship.

'I feel that I've been able to do that in a good way and not move into something else.'

Earlier this month, the actress said she's 'made peace' with her split from her TV producer ex Jonathan.

Reflecting on the difficult time, Emilia says she is now enjoying some time to herself after years of back-to-back relationships.

She explained: 'In my 20s, I went from relationship to work to relationship to work, and didn’t have time for myself.'

'I’m not complaining about it. I had a great time. But this bit of life has turned out differently, and that’s OK.'

On her most recent split, she continued to The Telegraph: 'I put my heart and soul into things and want them to work, but I accept that not everything can work. Life is ever-changing, and making peace with that is a good feeling.'
