Every Symbiote In Venom: The Last Dance Explained

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Venom: The Last DanceVenom: The Last Dance features an impressive roster of symbiotes beyond Tom Hardy's titular Venom and his host Eddie Brock. As seen in the final movie of Sony's Venom trilogy, Venom and Eddie are on the run as fugitives, evading not only the police and the US government but also alien monsters serving Venom's creator, Knull the Symbiote God. As a result, Venom isn't the only symbiote featured in Sony's latest Marvel movie.

By the ending of Venom: The Last Dance, Eddie Brock and his symbiotic counterpart encounter several other symbiotes who've been captured and studied by the US government at a secret facility known as Area 55. Because all existence would be threatened if Knull were to escape his prison on the planet Klyntar, several symbiotes bond with hosts to join Venom in his fight against the King in Black's monstrous Xenophages.

Additionally, Venom humorously bonds with several animal hosts throughout the movie. Keeping that in mind, here's every symbiote (and host) featured in Sony's new Venom: The Last Dance.

Venom/Eddie Brock

It only makes sense to begin with Eddie Brock, revealed to have been bonded to Venom for over a year by the beginning of Venom: The Last Dance. Having faced both Riot and Carnage together in their previous movies, Eddie and Venom have even traveled the multiverse together (as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home) before they are seen in this new movie, having become fugitives running from the law (and from Knull's symbiote hunters).

Having formed a codex in the first Venom when Eddie's symbiote revived him, Knull wants Venom's codex to free himself from his prison on Kylntar. This results in a major battle by the movie's end between a group of symbiotes and Knull's Xenophages, only for Venom to seemingly sacrifice himself to save Eddie, destroying the codex in the process. However, it's already been teased that the Venom symbiote is still alive, presumably for future adventures.

Patrick Mulligan Bonded With Two Symbiotes

As seen at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Detective Patrick Mulligan bonds with the presumed symbiote offspring of Carnage. Seeing as how Carnage's offspring in the comics was Toxin and Mulligan was its original host, it follows that the same is also true in this live-action continuity. However, The Last Dance confirms that this original symbiote (presumably Toxin) left Mulligan for dead before he was collected by Area 55 and the Imperium Project.

Instead, the Imperium Project and Doctor Teddy Payne gave Mulligan a new symbiote to bond with, thereby saving his life. This new symbiote is teal and serpent-like, appearing to be a new creation for the third Venom movie rather than being a creation of the original Marvel Comics. Mulligan and his new symbiote were also the first to give their lives to save Venom when the first Xenophage breaks into Area 55.

Agony/Doctor Teddy Payne

The lead scientist of the Imperium Project, Juno Temple's Doctor Teddy Payne is seemingly inspired by the comics' Doctor Thaddeus Paine, a villain of both Venom and Moon Knight on the page. While she doesn't immediately join the fight against the Xenophages, Payne does end up receiving her own symbiote to save Sadie Christmas. While not named, Payne's purple symbiote is a dead ringer for Agony as depicted in the comics.

On the page, Agony was one of the original Life Foundation symbiotes who recently had a brief tenure on the Thunderbolts. Considering their shared survival, it does seem as though Payne and Agony could certainly be featured in future Sony projects. Agony also has superspeed in the movie, apparently the result of Payne's childhood past when she and her brother were struck by lightning.

Lasher/Sadie Christmas

Another scientist working with the Imperium Project, Sadie Christmas (Clark Backo) saves Eddie Brock's life by freeing the Venom symbiote after the duo gets captured by Rex Strickland (who intended to kill Brock and destroy the codex). After the Xenophage attacks, Sadie bonds with a green symbiote that appears to be Lasher (another Life Foundation symbiote). While unnamed, Lasher feels the most likely considering one of its most recent hosts in the comics was named Sadie in 2019's Absolute Carnage event (the precursor to the King in Black crossover). Together, Sadie and Lasher join Venom in the fight against Knull's Xenophages.

Phage/Jim The Security Guard

After being stabbed by the first Xenophage, a yellowish-orange symbiote bonded with a security guard named Jim to save his life. Together, the duo joins the fight with Venom and the other released symbiotes. As such, this yellow symbiote appears to resemble Phage, another Life Foundation symbiote from the original Marvel Comics.

Other Symbiotes In Venom: The Last Dance

Venom: The Last Dance reveals that Area 55 and the Imperium Project had several symbiotes contained for study. Beyond the ones previously mentioned, there was also a silvery white symbiote that bonded with the female brunette scientist wearing glasses. This was the same scientist Sadie at one point asked earlier in the movie if she'd recently talked with her family, fearing what was to come after learning about Knull the Symbiote God (Andy Serkis).

Additionally, two blue and purple symbiotes came together with their hosts to form a unique two-headed symbiote warrior. While one of the hosts was confirmed to be a male scientist, the other host was never shown on-screen before the symbiotes merged. They may be a take on the comics' Hybrid symbiote (which was all the Life Foundation symbiotes merged). Lastly, there was also a red symbiote with fire-based abilities whose host was never shown on screen. This was perhaps the movie's version of Scream, the last Life Foundation symbiote from the comics.

In both the credits and within the movie itself, Venom: The Last Dance features multiple animals Venom briefly bonded with when he wasn't with Eddie. Here are all the animals Venom bonds to in the movie itself, including the implied one in the final post-credits scene for Venom: The Last Dance:

Horse - Venom bonds with a horse, allowing Eddie and his symbiote to quickly traverse the desert.
Fish - A fish is bonded with when soldiers from Area 55 find and pursue Venom and Eddie downriver.
Frog - Venom also bonds with a frog while searching for Eddie during the river pursuit.
Cockroach - Seen in the final post-credits scene approaching a vial that seemingly contains a surviving piece of Venom, teasing the symbiote's return.

Every Symbiote/Animal Hybrid In Venom 3's Credits

The initial credits sequence for Venom: The Last Dance imagines multiple creatures in the animal kingdom and what they'd look like if Venom bonded with them. As such, here's every "Venomized" animal seen at the end of the new Marvel movie:

All in all, it's quite a humorous and creative credits sequence, especially after the horse, frog, fish, and cockroach, which Venom actually did bond within the movie itself.
